Champions Named in Four Divisions

Posted by Ken Cicalo on Jun 07 2006 at 05:00PM PDT in Spring 2016
After an exciting week of playoffs, Clairemont Hilltoppers Little League finished with champions in four different divisions. Farm Division: Following first-round wins by the Mets over the Orioles and the Rockies over the Yankees, the Rockies topped the Mets in an exciting final game to capture the title. Minors Division: Cubs defeated the Marlins in the first playoff game. A's defeated the Cubs in the semi-finals. And on Saturday the 17th, the A's edged Cardinals to win the crown and advance to the Minors T.O.C. beginning on June 24 at our field. Majors Division: The Angels and Padres battled evenly all season, and the playoffs were no exception. The Padres took the first game 4-2, the Angels won the second game 5-3, and on Saturday the 17th, the Angels held on for a thrilling 2-1 win to capture the league title and advance to the Majors T.O.C. starting on Wed., June 21 at Clairemont Mesa. Juniors Division: Again two evenly matched teams hooked up in a best 2 of 3 playoff, with the White Sox edging the Red Sox in game 1, and coming back to take the championship with perhaps the most exciting juniors game of the year, in an 8-inning nail-biter. The White Sox begin T.O.C. play on Wed., June 21 at Mira Mesa. Congratulations to all the teams who played so well this season, and good luck to each of our Tournament of Champions entrants!
