Hello Hockey Players,

Registration for the 2018-19 season is now open! Please read the League and Registration Info, which has also been emailed.

Here are a few words of clarification about the number of playing spots available. We have intentionally set the player limits to force some people to the wait lists. This was done to eliminate anyone signing up with USA Hockey and not having a spot to play in the league. If you receive a 'sold out' message, DO NOT register with USA Hockey, but please DO sign up on the wait list. We will add more teams when there are enough people on the wait list to fill another team. When that happens, we'll contact you to sign up with USA Hockey and register.

IAHA A/B Division

For the past two seasons, we did not have enough A/B players to put together a formal league. Instead, we organized pick-up games for A/B players on Monday nights. We are trying again to form a league this year, but are prepared to offer A/B pickup on either Sundays or Mondays.

Advanced players may not play in the B/C division. As a rule of thumb if you are (or were) good enough to play youth travel hockey, high school varsity, college club, or above, then you are probably an A/B player. Not having played for 10 or 15 years does not mean you’re now a B/C player. If you’re really unsure, let us know and plan on coming to one of the pre-season games.

Exceptions will be considered for players aged 50 or over to join B/C, regardless of their playing skills, provided they meet the character and attitude we expect in B/C. Please DO NOT REGISTER. Instead, use this website to contact us: Over-50 B/C Sign-Up

We would like to make an informed decision on what type of program to offer. If you want to play A/B hockey this year, it is critical that you let us know of your interest by making a selection at the following web site: IAHA A/B Division Interest Survey

Some items of note for this season:

• The league fees are increasing from $445 to $468 this season.  There is no fee for B/C Goalies.  The sub fee remains $90.

• Teams will be allowed one “impact” level sub. Each sub is able to play in a maximum of 8 games.

If you are new to the league and want to play, you can find out a lot about the league by reading the information and downloads on this website, including last year's schedule. If you still have questions, send us an e-mail.

Info for New Players

Posted by Eric Cyker at Sep 26, 2018 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hi Everyone,

As we have done in the past few years, we’ll be organizing pre-season pick-up games during our league ice times at The Rink over the next few weeks.  Please use the link below to sign up to play.  We are currently opening signups only for the next two weeks.  Look for future e-mails when we open up more dates.

New players MUST attend at least one game.

You do not need to register with the league prior to signing up for these games, but we do trust that by playing in these games you intend to play in the league in the B/C division (please read A/B paragraph below).

The cost for all skaters is $10 per game, which MUST be paid at the rink on game night.  There is no fee for goalies.

If a game is full, please please please sign up for the wait list.  As we get closer to game day, we’ll shuffle openings between new and returning player slots to fill up any open slots.  We'll also add games if enough demand exists.

If you cannot make a game you signed up for, please cancel at least two days prior to game day.  No-shows will be removed from future signups.

USA Hockey registration is not required and no insurance is provided.

B/C Pre-Season Game Sign-Up

As players new to the league (or returning after several years off), we should tell you a little bit about the pre-season games.  First, this is not a try-out.

The game will be a typical pickup game.  No ref, no clock, no keeping score.  Teams will be set by jersey color.  Generally that means white vs not-white jerseys.  Bring both if you have them, but try to avoid powder blue, gray and light yellow.

The goals of the game are for us to get to know you and for you to meet some of the current players and see what the level of play is like in B/C.  We’ll be asking the returning players to help assess your skills, which will assist the board when we try to make balanced teams in a few weeks.  Just play and have fun and don’t worry about it.  Maybe we’ll surprise you with a skills drill.  Who knows.

So that we all know who you are, please get some white hockey tape, put a double strip on both the front and back of your helmet, and write your name with a broad marker.  Write what you want to be called.  If your name is William Jones but you go by Bill, then write Bill Jones (or at least Bill J).  If you want to be called Spike, that’s fine too.  Players without names on their helmets are returning players.  Talk to them about the league too.

Ithaca Beer Co claimed the B/C Division Championship with an exciting 4-3 double overtime victory over PSP Unlimited to sweep the final series two games to none.  In the deciding game, the teams played an entertaining, wide open first period trading goals in route to a 2-2 tie. The first period excitement included a short-handed goal and a power play goal on the same penalty.

The teams settled down to a scoreless second period before Ithaca Beer took the lead just under six minutes into the third period.  PSP was able to hold that score by defending a two-player-down penalty kill.  They then rallied to score the game tying goal with just 1:28 remaining to force overtime.

The momentum shifted back and forth during the first overtime period, but neither team was able to score during the 20 minute session.  In the second overtime, Ithaca Beer fought off a penalty and scored the championship winning goal eight minutes and seven seconds into the period, just 18 seconds after returning their player to the ice.

Ithaca Beer Co finished second during the regular season with a 15-7-4 record.  PSP Unlimited  was fourth at 13-9-4. Both teams won their quarter-final series against tough opponents with records of 1-0-1. Each team then advanced to the final round after being forced to three game 2-1 series during the semi-finals.
