Portsmouth Babe Ruth League Expands Registration Boundaries

Posted by Portsmouth RI Babe Ruth League on Mar 28 2012 at 05:00PM PDT

In 2012, the Portsmouth Babe Ruth League (PBRL) was approved to redraw its boundary lines to include Tiverton, Little Compton, Bristol and Warren, RI.  With the dynamic climate of AAU and Junior/Senior Little League changing the traditional progression of players moving up from Little League baseball to Babe Ruth (13-15 yr old Div.), some towns have unfortunately had to abandon their Babe Ruth League Charters due to a lack of players.

PBRL, traditionally a league of over 100 players, had watched its numbers decline over the past few years to be down under 40.  This prompted the new board to petition Babe Ruth League (BRL) to expand their boundaries and incorporate near-by towns, allowing players of Babe Ruth age a chartered league to play in.  BRL approved the boundary changes for the 2012 season.

Anyone interested in having their child play Babe Ruth League baseball in Portsmouth, RI from any of the towns mentioned in this article can find more information and register their child at http://www.portsmouthbrl.org.

Portsmouth Babe Ruth League is an instructional/competitive community recreational league which also competes in inter-league play with the surrounding communities of Newport and Middletown, along with summer All-Star participation against teams from throughout the State of RI ... all organizations which are also BRL chartered leagues.

If you have any questions, please email the President of PBRL, Bob McSparren at:  robert.mcsparren@bms.com  or any of our board members listed on the website.
