Wrestlers of all levels from first time to experienced wrestlers are always welcome from ages 5-18.  See the 'About Chatfield Wrestling' page to guide your child to the correct practice. There can be a very large gap between wrestlers ability, technique and demeanor while on the mat so the coaches reserve the flexibility to guide your child into the correct class (novice or experienced). Depending the child's growth in the sport through out the year, they may be asked to move up or even down to keep them learning and improving all year long. Chatfield wrestlers are competing at Local, State and National Championships every year!

Registration is now open for 2018-2019 Fall/Winter Season and first practices will begin Oct. 15th. Click on the Link Below to Begin Online Registration:

Chatfield Jr Wrestling started in 1982, and has been run by local coaches and parents since.  As kids have gotten older and grown up through our club, parents and leadership is also passed on to others that carry the Chatfield Jr Wrestling team further, building a tradition of success.

Beginner/Intermidiate

Typically 0-4 year wrestlers.  Beginner & Intermidiate wrestlers are wrestlers who enjoy the sport, the practice, tumbling and begin to retain techniques.  The focus of coaching beginner wrestlers is not always technique based.  More focus is put on the concept of the sport.  There is less focus on drilling in the beginner practice and more focus on teaching good vs. bad position by putting them in situations and letting them wrestle to learn what good position is.  This type of curriculum allows the wrestlers learn by wrestling.  Often times beginner Wresters are younger wrestlers who do not have the maturity or attention to detail to retain techniques taught in the Advanced practice. Once the have the concept, demeanor and maturity they will excel in the Advance practices.

Advanced Wrestlers:

The Advanced wrestling practices are catered to the top level of wrestlers in the room.  Every wrestler in the room has goals of being the best they can be at wrestling, therefore we must push the top wrestlers to continue to learn and perfect there techniques.  Practices are based on the concept of 'Live Drilling'.  Live drilling is repeating techniques with a partner simulating that situation or technique in a match.  This fast pace drilling develops the wrestlers timing with the move, builds required muscle memory  and conditions the wrestler as well.

While these practices are structured for the top wrestlers, the others are not left behind.  Every wrestler develops there styles and techniques through these practices.  While we are repeating the same techniques through out the year, these wrestlers continue to perfect positions and see details they didn't notice before.

Believe in the Process, for all acspects of wrestling & lilfe:
