THE SNACK SHACK IS BACK!

Posted by Carisa Perkins at Apr 3, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

TABB's Snack Shack re-opens for business in a temporary location and a revised menu (with the proper permits!), but with no less enthusiasm for making TABB one of the finest places for kids and their families to enjoy the game of baseball!!!

Please join other TABB families in supporting TABB by purchasing chips, candy, drinks and pre-packaged goodies along with TABB Apparel from the TABB Snack Shack which will be located in the main parking lot under a canopy for the remainder of the 2008 season.

The Snack Shack Work Schedule is back in effect as well, so be sure to check your team's schedule and arrive promptly for your scheduled shifts.

TABB Families....

Please note that St. Lawrence is in the process of installing a new play structure at the T-Ball Field.  This area is OFF LIMITS as it is not completed, nor has it passed inspection.  Please keep your children and remind others to keep their children off of the structure so that we will continue to have use of the T-Ball Field while the construction is on-going.

Did you know that 1 in 150 children (and 1 in 94 boys) are unable to do simple things like say "good morning," make friends, go to school or play baseball without help because of Autism?

Here are some quick facts about Autism:

1.  It is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the WORLD.

2.  More children will be diagnosed this year with Autism than with Diabetes,  Cancer and AIDS, combined.

3.  Boys are FOUR times more likely than girls to have Autism.

4.  There is currently NO medical detection or cure for Autism, but early diagnosis and intervention greatly improves outcomes.

5.  Autism does not discriminate by geography, class or ethnicity.

So what can YOU do?  Three simple things:

1.  BE AWARE...find out more about Autism at:  www.autismspeaks.org or www.lafeat.org.

2.  CARE...Reach out to those you know or who you meet that have children living with Autism.  Figure out ways you can make a difference in their lives.

3. SHARE...Share with others what you find out about Autism and help support Autism research and services.

A big THANKS to the Torrance American Baseball Board and Families for supporting those in our TABB family as well as others around the world in battling Autism!
