The TABB Snack Shack is serving fresh hamburgers and hot dogs off the grill!!!

After much work and effort on the part of TABB President Chris Cuff, the TABB Board, Jackie Martizia and Jessica Pasley, we are back on the road to being fully and legally equipped to have a full-service menu available at TABB once again!  The snack shack had already moved back into the building and now will begin serving hot/fresh hot dogs and hamburgers this week.  Once more details have been addressed, more things will be added back into the menu.  What an exciting time for TABB families as we head into the month of May and the height of our baseball season!!

Thanks to all the TABB families for your continued support while we weathered this transition!  Please continue to show your support by planning to purchase a few hot dogs or hamburgers from the Snack Shack this weekend!

Myles McGowan...Hometown Hero!!

Posted by Carisa Perkins at Apr 27, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

5-yr-old Myles McGowan is no stranger to facing tough situations.  As he stood at the plate, staring down the pitcher and realizing his team needed him on base, he took a deep breath and swung with all he had…  To many of us this may not seem like a big deal when the player is five years old and we’re talking T-Ball, not Major Leagues…But for Myles, this was a big moment.  He’d always wanted to play baseball -- and play he did.  He had a hit and with the help of his teammates, coaches and a very special teacher, made it all the way around the bases to score one for the Torrance American T-Ball Athletics this past Saturday!  Way to go Myles!!

You see, Myles has been battling brain cancer. Late last year, after having a cancerous brain tumor removed, his parents were told that there were a lot of things Myles probably wouldn’t be able to do again.  But Myles, who has the “strength of an ox” according to his preschool teacher Jen Sylvester, would never take “never” for an answer.  This fun-loving and determined young man relearned how to walk, talk and eat among other things!!  Talk about a GRAND SLAM!!!

Of course, most of us can only imagine what a tough road this has been for Myles and his family.  It has taken a toll on them mentally, physically and emotionally.  Myles is part of a loving family of six which includes his parents, an older sister, an older brother and a younger brother.  For them, it has been both heartbreaking and inspiring to watch Myles battle this illness.  Two weeks ago, Myles parents received the heart-wrenching news that their baby had developed another brain tumor.  The family has decided to get second and third opinions before making a decision on what to do this time.  One thing is for sure…just like Myles, they will never give up!

We can all pitch in to show Myles and his family our support “TABB-Style!”  At Myles’ school, several of the teachers have started a school-wide recyclables drive.  Recycling money has become a huge help financially for Myles’ family.  Starting this weekend (May 3rd) at TABB, we will have designated trash cans to put soda cans and water bottles in to donate to the McGowan family.  Please join TABB President Chris Cuff, the TABB Board, Jen & Rob Sylvester and the other TABB Families as we cheer on a true Hometown Hero!

Myles, our thoughts, prayers, well-wishes and hopes are with you as you face this latest battle.  We’re behind you 100%!  You are one AWESOME guy!

Your TABB Family, Friends and Fans

A friendly reminder to all the teams/parents in TABB that the SNACK SHACK is in business and we need all parents to check the SNACK DUTY SCHEDULE and arrive to cover your scheduled shift so that we have enough help.  The Snack Shack is officially back in the building and hot food is back on the menu!
