Did you know that 1 in 150 children (and 1 in 94 boys) are unable to do simple things like say "good morning," make friends, go to school or play baseball without help because of Autism?
Here are some quick facts about Autism:
1. It is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the WORLD.
2. More children will be diagnosed this year with Autism than with Diabetes, Cancer and AIDS, combined.
3. Boys are FOUR times more likely than girls to have Autism.
4. There is currently NO medical detection or cure for Autism, but early diagnosis and intervention greatly improves outcomes.
5. Autism does not discriminate by geography, class or ethnicity.
So what can YOU do? Three simple things:
1. BE AWARE...find out more about Autism at: www.autismspeaks.org or www.lafeat.org.
2. CARE...Reach out to those you know or who you meet that have children living with Autism. Figure out ways you can make a difference in their lives.
3. SHARE...Share with others what you find out about Autism and help support Autism research and services.
