By now, players will have received notification from their team if they have been selected to participate in one of Group B Div I and Div III all star games at Coronado HS on May 20.

 Note that the all star games for the Group A Div I & Div III all star games are being held June 10 at Cathedral Catholic HS. 

This is the schedule of games at Coronado HS on May 20:

This year Coronado HS will be the site for the Championships and 2 of the 4 All Star games (Groups B for Div I and Div III) on May 20. 

 

The All Star Games for Groups A for Div I and Div III are being held June 10 at Cathedral Catholic HS.

 

PLAYOFFS

The SDCLA finishes the season with the following playoffs:

Div I Championship round for the top 8 teams

Div I Consolation round for the next 8 seeded teams (seeds 9-16)

Div III Championship round for the top 8 teams (new in 2017). 

 

These playoffs will commence Tuesday May 16  with semi-finals on May 18 and the finals on May 20.  The games on May 16 and 18 will be at the site of the higher seeded team except as noted below. 

 

The playoffs for the top 8 teams of Div I and III will match up in the first round based on seedings with #1 vs. #8, #2 vs. #7, etc.  The playoffs for the consolation round may take geography into consideration for the first and second round so there may not be a precise matching of seeds as being used in the championship round.  If the higher seeded team cannot host the game on the specified date then the lower seeded team will host the game.  Changing the game date is not an option.

 

ALL STAR GAMES:

The SDCLA also has all-star games for four groups that will be played as follows:

May 20^th:, Div I Group B for the teams seeded 20-40 and  Div III Group B for the teams seeded 13-25.

 

June 10^th: Div I Group A for the top 20 seeded teams and Div III Group A for the top 12 seeded teams.  These games are being played in conjunction with the San Diego Chapter of US Lacrosse All Star event at Cathedral Catholic on June 10.

 

Participants in the all-star games on May 20 and June 10^th will need to provide their active US Lacrosse member ID for verification.

 

The all-star game is organized by allocating a number of players to each team based on their final seeding.  Each team will then select which of their players will participate in the all-star game.  Each game will be organized with approximately 20-25 players to each side.  In the Div I A group, I am expecting that the teams will be allocated up to 4 players for the top teams down to 2 players for the lowest seeded teams (#13 through #20).  For Div I B the range will likely be 3 players for top seeded teams to 1 player for the lower seeded teams and for Div III the range will likely be from up to 4 players for top seeded teams to 2 players for the lower seeded teams.  The allocation of players will be announced May 14 by 6pm.  Each team will then need to notify me by the end of day Wed May 18 of the players selected, their position and whether they will attend the all-star game.  This list is needed for organizing the rosters.  They will also receive all-star t-shirts the day of the game.  Please do not send me requests to add additional players beyond your allotment.  Please make sure your all-star selections can actually attend the game.

 

The coaches for the all-star games:

 

I would like coaches to volunteer for coaching in the all-star game.  I would like at least two coaches for each side in the game.  I will select the coaches for each team from the list of volunteers in order of the seeding of the team they represent. The primary responsibility of the coaches is to get them organized for the game and do their best to get players a fair amount of playing time.  I would like to have volunteers submit their names by May 16.  I will notify the coaches selected by May 19.

 

The following are the planned game times for the finals and all-star games on May 20, however this schedule times may change (I will send out an update the last weekend of the season):
