Regarding Team Coaches:
The game of softball continues to grow, so does the need to teach new and returning coaches more about the game of softball.

The league has worked hard in continuing to improve the quality of the coaches in our league by holding clinics and providing them with top coaching programs to give back to the community.

Sizzling Slam 3

Posted by Victor Jimenez at Jan 6, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

SIZZLING SLAM III
COME FEEL THE HEAT!!

......COMING APRIL 28-30, Elk Grove Park & Laguna Community Complex.......

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

FRIDAY NIGHT CHALLENGE

TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS:

SIZZLING SLAM III TOURNAMENT RULES:

Elk Grove Girls Softball 2006 By-Laws and Playing Rules will apply with the following exceptions:
Note: Game Rules may change prior to tournament, at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

  • SPORTSMANSHIP IS A MUST! Please treat each official and opposing team with respect! Anyone not displaying sportsmanship will be ask to leave the tournament and may cause their team to forfeit their game.

  • The team listed on the top of the bracket will occupy the 3rd base dugout (unless a team remains on the same field from the previous game, then that team will stay in the dugout currently occupied).

  • Run Rule for all divisions: 7 per inning (a team may not score more than 7 runs in any one inning)

  • Mercy Rule in effect after 4 innings (3 1/2 if the home team is ahead, or scores the necessary run in the bottom of the 4th inning): Majors-8 runs; Minors-10 runs; Mini Minors & Rookies-12 runs.

  • Pitching Restrictions: 7 innings (6 innings for Rookies) per 2 game set (1-2) (3-4) (5-6).  There is no pitching limit restriction for the Championship games.

  • After each game, the home team is responsible for turning in lineup sheets with the game score and pitcher’s innings pitched (to the Tournament Director Table).

  • THERE ARE NO PROTESTS ALLOWED: The only two exceptions are: 1) Ineligible player; and 2) Excess number of innings pitched by a pitcher. These must be addressed to the Tournament Director only (and before the start of the next scheduled game).

  • Home team will be determined by a coin toss.

  • Home team will be the official scorekeeper.

  • Courtesy Runners are encouraged! When you have two outs, please use a courtesy runner for your catcher and/or pitcher if either is on base. The courtesy runner shall be an available player who most recently completed her turn at bat (and is farthest from batting again in the inning).

  • Game time is very limited and everyone wants to play as much as possible.  Please be observant of the time, and no stalling in between innings.

  • Saturday Pool Games will have a 1 hour 20 minute time limit (1 hour 10 minute for 8-Under).
No new inning will start after time has expired, but the inning in which time expires will be completed (Note: if time expires and the home team is ahead, they will not take their turn at bat in the bottom of the inning). This is only on Saturday Pool Games! This is to prevent overlapping games. Please help get as many innings in as possible.

  • Saturday pool games can end in a tie.  Teams will earn 10 points for a win, 5 points for a tie, and 0 points for a loss.

  • Sunday ranking will be determined by point standings from pool-play.  In the event of a tie, the following tie-breakers will be used: 1) Head to Head,  2) Fewest Runs Allowed,  3) Coin Toss

  • Sunday elimination games: No new inning may begin after 1 hour 25 minutes (1 hour 20 minutes for 8-Under).  Ties will not be allowed, each game must have a winner. If at the end of regulation, or for the first full inning after time expires, the International tie-breaker will be in effect.  No time limit for Championship games, but the run rules will be in effect.

Thank you for participating this year in our annual Sizzling Slam Tournament.  We hope that you and your team enjoy this weekend.  And please remember, we are doing this for OUR girls!

EQUIPMENT:

The League will provide a new ball for each game.  We may ask for you to bring any new softballs which have not been used (they will be replaced if this happens).  Please drop them off at the Tournament Director’s table.

TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES:

HOME TEAM:
Home team is responsible for turning in the scores to the Tournament Director's table. You must provide both team's pitcher(s) summary to be posted on the board.

DUGOUTS: Please make sure that all dugouts are completely cleaned out when leaving at the end of your game. Please be courteous to teams trying to exit.

FIELD PREP: Before each game, both teams are responsible for field prep.  This includes, when needed, dragging the field, filling in any holes (pitcher mound, home plate, etc.), re-chalking batter’s box and field lines. Please work together!!! As Coaches and managers need time to prepare their team, this is a great opportunity for parents to help.  Encourage family participation!

On the last game of the day, both teams are responsible for all field equipment, trash in and around dugouts, and scoreboard equipment (LCP).  Please make sure all equipment is put away, and the field boxes are properly locked.

umpireUMPIRE ASSISTANCE:
Due to higher number of games being played this weekend; we may ask for your assistance in umpiring some of the 8U games. Please see the sign-up sheet at the tournament meeting. Please contact Brian Cherry if you are available to assist with this weekend's tournament.

All division winners will be announced at the closing ceremonies of each division.

Q: Has the registration fee increased this year?

A: Yes. At our 2005 End-of-The-Season Party the league provided a survey that asked “Would you be willing to pay an increase in your registration in lieu of the candy fundraiser?”

This season each player will receive a full uniform (jersey, shorts, visor, and socks) and no candy fundraiser will be required.

Player registration fees are applied to: complete player uniform; player photos (team & individual); player clinic; opening day expenses; umpire fees; league administration expenses; league tournaments fees; and league equipment expenses.

DISCOUNTS:

Registration discounts will be calculated before paying by Credit Card on-line.

Discounts are given to families with three or more players per family.

The first and second player will pay the full registration fee*, the remaining players will pay 50% of the player registration fee.

*Please keep in mind that the older player must pay the full registration, then the remaining players will receive the discount.
