Eagles Baseball Pulls Out a Win

Posted by sandy ziebold at Apr 28, 2014 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
HARTLAND – Marcus Ziebold continued his hot hitting, driving what turned out to be the winning run with one of his two doubles in the fourth inning as the Hartland baseball team downed Waterford Kettering 8-3 on Monday. The win kept the Eagles (11-2 overall, 7-0 KLAA West) atop the division standings. “I was happy we were able to play,” Hartland coach Brian Morrison said. “For us to get it in and get through the weather makes it a little less cold when you win.” The Eagles took the lead when Brent Diamond led off the fourth with a single and scored on Ziebold’s double with two outs. Hartland added four more runs in the eighth. Justin Smith, who entered the game in the fifth, pitched out of a jam created by a pair of Eagles errors in the fifth and shut down Kettering the rest of the way. “We were sloppy a little bit today,” Morrison said. “Our approach early in the game wasn’t where I’d like it to be, but we were able to put a few things together and pull out the win. I think it was a learning experience for how we have to approach every game.” The Eagles will take on Brighton Wednesday in a game that could go a long way to determining the division title. “We’ve got a long way to go,” Morrison said. “We’re trying to take every game one a time, to try and get better and see where the season takes us.” http://www.livingstondaily.com/article/20140429/SPORTS/304290004/Eagles-baseball-pulls-out-win
