All our home games are played in nearby Tymon Park, on pitches allocated to us by South Dublin County Council.(parks department). Rounders,(Cluiche Corr in Irish),is very similar to fast pitch Softball and is one of the four official G.A.A.games,(albeit the lesser known). The game has been played in our area since the mid 1970s. Our present Club structure was established in 1994. We cater for teams of all ages, male, female, mixed,(COED),from under 13 years upto senior(adult) level.

2014 Season.

Posted by John Hughes at Jun 14, 2014 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

A season that was just ticking over with wins and losses for our senior teams, including Greenhills Ladies, while we await to see if all teams make the final four, sprung to life over the weekend( 14/6/2014) thanks to our under 13 boys and girls. They had shown great form last weekend, winning all their matches when playing at the Leinsters. These games seems to have stood them in good sted and allowed them to go on and perform to such a high level. The girls defeated Cuchullains in their Final, and the boys (with only 7 players) beat the Heath. Well done to all the players and their coaches, a truly great achievment. Feile All Ireland Champions at under 13 Boys & Girls

Apart from the playing side of things, it was also an historic weekend for our Club, when we finally, after some 16 years of campainging, recieved the keys to our Club House and dressing rooms. We were delighted to host as our first visitors, for a coaching session,a group of players and mentors from Castlenock Hurling & Football Club, we wish them all success for the future.

As the close of 2014 approaches we take the opportunity to thank everyone who supported us throughout what has been, by any standard, an exceptionally successful one. Seven titles on the playing field, Feile champions at under13 boys and girls, 3 Minor titles and Senior Men and Mixed All Ireland Champions. Well done to all the players and their coaches. Limekiln Ladies failed by the narrowest of margins to make the semi-finals. Special mention for our Greenhills Ladies, who led by example, in getting out there and playing all their fixtures, giving many fine performances. Next year the possibility is there for a Greenhills Mens team. Country wide, Rounders has been struggling for some time to improve on the numbers playing, recent strong support from G A A headquarters may be about to change that scenario. Here is hoping for 2015. The Limekiln Challenge Cup blitz competition was held on the 14th Sept. and after a series of very enjoyable games, a Limekiln selection was beaten in the final for the 2nd. Year in a row, by Erne Eagles of Cavan. This was a great day of fun food and friendship. Looking forward to making 2015 games bigger and better. Congratulations to Amanda Hoxha, our 2014 Player of the Year and also to, Mick O’Connell, Shane Murtagh, Luke Brennan, John Nolan and Eddie Healy who received 2014 All Star awards, Eddie also had the honour of being chosen as male All Ireland Player of the Year. After 17 years of campaigning we were delighted to have our club house/dressing rooms opened in May. This fine facility should enhance the enjoyment of our games into the future. Our A.G.M. will take place on the 13/1/2015 at 8pm.in the Club House. All members over 18 are entitled to attend. Come along and help us plan for the future. We wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year. Details for the coming season will be circulated in Feb/March, here is hoping for increased support and participation on all levels.

2013 Season

Posted by John Hughes at Oct 13, 2013 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Our playing season came to a close on Sunday 15th Sept. with the holding of our Senior mixed competition for the Limekiln Challenge Cup. Despite the harsh unpleasant weather, we had a good turnout, with five teams playing. The Final was between Erne Eagles of Cavan and one of Limekiln’s selections, with the Cavan team making history in being the first team to take the Cup out of Limekiln. Congratulations to Erne Eagles and to all who played and helped on the day with food etc.

Club Player of the Year is Luke Brennan. Congratulations Luke, well done on many great performances at Minor and Senior levels.

It has been a good year at National level with our Senior Men regaining the All Ireland title and the Ladies losing out by just one run. Our Mixed were well beaten in their final. In the Minors our Men were triumphant.

In the Leinster underage blitz, the under 13 boys and under 16 mixed were successful, with the under14 mixed gaining a draw.

With the announcement in 2012 that after many years of promises the “ Go Ahead” had been given for the construction of dressing room facilities in Tymon Park, it is most disappointing to end another season without a sod being turned. Hopefully this will be rectified before the start of next season.

Update on dressing room, 4/11/2013, great to see work commenced to-day.

The 2013 Rounders All Stars. Congratulations to the ten players from Limekiln who achieved All Star status in 2013. (Dylan Clerkin, Amy Donnelly,Laura Eagers,Eddie Healy,Chris Hughes,Amy Kett, Lizzie Maguire,Shane Murtagh,Mick O’Connell and David Ryan.)

We take this opportunity to congratulate everyone who, won, lost or drew, took to the Diamond for enjoyment this past season and hope to see you all, with many extras next year. We thank everyone who helped in any way with funding, transport etc. throughout the  past year, special mention to the Staff and Patrons of the Traders for their continued and valued support.

2012 Season Report

Posted by John Hughes at Dec 2, 2012 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

What a fine season it has been for Limekiln Rounders G.A.A. club.  Along with the good news announcement from the Minister of State Brian Hayes regarding the “ GO  AHEAD” on the T.A.S.C. pavilion we have had some fantastic performances on the field.

At the underage All Ireland Rounders Feile, held on the August Bank Holiday Weekend we had teams participating in all sections, taking gold in the under 15 boys and under 16 mixed. The under 15 Boys won their Final against The Heath with a power display at bat and the under16 Mixed beat Piercetown of Wexford with what was one of the best displays of fielding and batting all year at any level in the game of Rounders.

To cater for the number of our Ladies wishing to play in the Senior championship it was necessary to form Greenhills G.A.A. Rounders Club, well done to those involved in this initiative.

At Senior level, although disappointed in failing to retain the Men’s All Ireland, title in a match that we were in control of for six of the seven innings, we redeemed ourselves somewhat by taking the Mixed title. Our Ladies also travelled to Naomh Mhuire’s fine facility in Moneymore Co. Derry in June and brought the Gary Kelly cup to Dublin.

Our own one day competition, the “Limekiln Challenge Cup” was held on the 16th. Sept. in Tymon Park. Despite the cold, windy weather and a clash with other fixtures that effected numbers taking part, we had a good day’s rounders with 4 teams playing. Everyone in attendance was fed and watered and enjoyed the fun and games. Rounding off the season nicely for our club, we are delighted to be picking up 8 G.A.A. Rounders All Star Awards out of 24 being presented in the Green Isle Hotel on Nov. 30th. (6 Men & 2 Women )

We take this opportunity to congratulate everyone who, won, lost or drew, took to the Diamond for enjoyment this past season and hope to see them all again with many extras next year. We thank everyone who helped Limekiln Rounders in any way throughout the year, special mention of thanks to the Staff and Patrons of the Traders for their continued and valued support. We wish all a Merry Christmas and a New Year that brings good cheer, health and happiness to all.
