In what was the closest game in 7 years, Purchase/West Harrison United claim their second consecutive Cup after defeating the downtown Harrison club in a penalty kick shootout.

Purchase/West Harrison United soundly defeated a disorganised Aranac Athletic 1905 today winning their first Harrison Cup in six years.  After winning five consecutive Cup matches, the downtown Harrison club played an uninspiring second half and were defeated 5-2. 

Aranac manager Ray Kraus said "our keeper gave up any easy first goal due to the wet conditions at the start of the match and then we were shocked by an errant cross that caught the goal one minute from halftime putting us down 2-1 after 45 minutes.  After a strong goal from P/WHU 15 minutes into the second half, our midfield broke down and we gave up two more sloppy goals in the second half.  It was the first time in six years I didn't feel confident going into the match.  We lost some strong team players from last year and it showed."

The Harrison Cup is an annual contest pitting downtown Harrison against a team from the West Harrison and Purchase section of town.  The Harrison Mens Age 30 and Over Soccer Program is affiliated with the Harrison Recreation Dept.

In the closest contest yet, Aranac Athletic wins the Harrison Cup for a fifth consecutive time.  The downtown Harrison club narrowly edges past West Harrison FC on goal differential and soundly defeats an injury weakened Purchase United.
