ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BELOW!

Here is an overview about the USSSA World Series tournament and accommodations.

Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Alabama

As I read the tournament information now, the games will be played at both the Gulf Shores complex as well at the Orange Beach sports complex.  Don't worry - they are only 7 miles apart!

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are a stretch of the Gulf Coast in Alabama (9 hours from us) that comprise of 20 miles of shoreline.  Therefore either location would be well within the range of games and extracurricular activities.  The reason I mention this is that Orange Beach can be more cost effective so don't be concerned by the location...

We have been to the area a few times and can provide the following information to those that are new to the Alabama coast.

Accommodations - traditional hotel arrangements can be made (though limited in the area) and Condominium/House rentals can also be made.  If you are looking for something on the beach, a condo is your best bet.  Rates range, so do a search for your space/comfort needs at any of the following:

For hotels look at:

Trivago.com

All can give a good list of hotels available.  The difference between the hotels and condos is the beach availability and the accommodations.  Condos have a full kitchen and typically multi bedroom layouts.  Hotels have half kitchens and limited suite layouts.  So depending on your need and budget, I hope the info helps.

Beach availability is not guaranteed for either hotel or condo, so be sure if that is important to you, that you pay attention to the details of the property.

Driving to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach...

IH-10 East in Alabama just past Mobile Bay - turn on to exit 44(Highway 59) south - then be sure to take the Foley Beach express toll road turn off - it will save you about 45 minutes of stop and go traffic and only cost you a couple of dollars.

Things to do an see...

Plenty of things to do on the time off.  Primarily - BEACH!  Enjoy.

Other items include the Gulf Shores Zoo, Alligator Alley, Lulu's Obstacle course, Fishing, Dolphin Watching, Shopping at the Outlet, Gulf State Park, Waterville USA, Fort Morgan (or the trip to Dauphin and Fort Gaines) and much more...

One Notable item - the US Navy Blue Angles train out of Naval Air Station Pensacola.  This time of year they run their drills 2X week in the morning hours.  This is an incredible opportunity to see them perform.  Very worth checking into for a group outing.

Restaurants are as varied as you would want - with plenty of fresh Gulf seafood.  (and if you have a full kitchen, check out the fresh seafood markets for daily catches to cook up as you desire...Blalock, S&S, Fresh Market and Shrimp Shack are all good choices of markets)

Thanks to Aaron Hoge for all your input!!!

Thank so much for your time!!!  We are so looking forward to the warmth of the sun and the beautiful beaches and of course playing Ball!    Go Fury!!!
