WELCOME TO 2016
Finally we can welcome in the New Year having just played our first game since December the 12th.
The last 8 weeks or so has been a trying time with the Christmas lay off then bad weather affecting any chance of a game being played.
The layoff has seen some good though, with one or two players making their way back from long term injuries. Still early days for the guys but we are hoping they will start to feature in games over the coming weeks.
This time of the year is one of the most frustrating for a player and coach. Games off continually and only managing to train when a facility is available. However, we have been very fortunate with the latter and the players have been excellent in attending the sessions and not being too despondent with the cancellations.
Anyway, Last Saturday saw us travel to Maud.
The home side have seen similar changes to their team as us having a change in management and players coming and going but initial results were favourable where they defeated us at home 4-2, so we knew this was going to be a difficult encounter.
However the squad was prepared for this and put in another good display putting Maud to the sword winning 8-2. Most memorable part of the match being the first ever hat-trick in Junior football for Darren Pyper.
A good start to 2016.
This sees us having 12 league games left – each one just as important as the last. The league itself is very tight where a win can propel you up several places but a loss can knock you down as many too.
This coming Saturday see Deveronside come to The Milton. A side that has bags of experience and a physicality that we will need to match.
Having just lost out to them back in November 3-2 up in Banff we need to be at our best to grab something from this game.
KO is 2pm where we hope will see you there to support the boys!
Come on ye Saints!
