The Week of January 31

Posted by David Kask at Jan 30, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Hello Skiers and Parents, We have a busy week this week. You need to sign-up for the Arrowhead Championships by the end of practice on Tuesday, February 1. The race is Thursday, February 3 at Snowflake starting at 11:00. You will need to be at Snowflake at about 9:00 for the classic race or 11:00 for the skate race. Everyone is welcome to enter. This is our "conference" championships and the race choices are a 5 km classic or a 5 km skate race. Both races will use the first 5 km of the 10 km trail. The Arrowhead Championships is hosted by our team and we need lots of help to pull it off. Parents please sign up on the list of jobs at Snowflake or send us an e-mail. We will have a team dinner Wednesday night at 5:30. Cost $4. We still need someone to host this. We will also wax skis before and after dinner. Thursday is the race. It should be lots of fun. Sign-up for the Junior High Championships by the end of practice on Friday. This will be held on Monday, February 7 begining at 5:00 p.m. at Snowflake. It will be a 2.5 km classic race. This race is for anyone in grades 5 through 9. Let your brothers, sisters and friends know about it. You don't have to be a member of a ski team to race it. We will also need help to run this one. East, Marshall and Central are hosting it. Let us know if you can help. And looking deeper into my crystal ball is Section 7 meet on Thursday, February 10 at Giants Ridge. See you on the trails, Dave

What's Happening

Hello Skiers, Great race to all skiers who participated in the Marshall Sprints and the Mt. Itasca NorAm race. I heard from some of the college coaches that their skiers felt the Mt. Itasca course was harder than the 5km Olympic course at Soldier Hollow. You all skied it very well. Congratulations. Now for this week: Friday we have a race at the Pincushion trails in Grand Marias. Sign up by the end of practice on Tuesday. We have asked for two busses so everyone can go. It is a 5km pursuit race with the classic first. You can do the pursuit, classic only or skate only. All skier hoping to make the section team or the state relay team should ski the pursuit. Junior high races will be about 3km long. The will be a fun short throw together relay afterward. You can put your teams together or if you don't have a team and want to ski it let Bonnie know. After the race we will stop and swim for an hour or so at the city pool and then go to Sven & Ole's for pizza. Bring money for the pizza...we'll pay for the pool. Next week on Thursday is the Arrowhead Championships at Snowflake. We are the host so we will need lots of parent help. Please let us know if you can help. There are many things that need to be done so the more the merrier. Some things are inside and some outside so this is your first warning to dress warm. None of the tasks are difficult so no experience is necessary. Remember to get your strength workouts in...shovel when it snows. If your parents have a snowblower you can come over and help with our driveway. See you at Snowflake, Dave & Bonnie
