The North Royalton Bears played a pair of games on January 11th at the Fremont Rec. Ctr. Winning them both and improving their overall record to 16-8-2.

In the early game the Bears defeated the Fremont Ice Wolves, 3-0, in North Coast HS Hockey League play. North Royalton got on the board early when Jacob Krosky netted what would be the eventual game winner; assists were awarded to Paul Jablonski and Timmy Orlosky. After a scoreless middle period, Krosky added his 2nd of the game early in the 3rd assisted by Cam Cook and Colin O’Connor. Cook netted the Bears final goal midway through the period, on the power play, assisted by Orlosky and O’Connor. Joey Fratantonio played an exceptional game between the pipes for the Bears stopping all 25 shots he faced for his team leading 4th shutout. The win improves the Bears NCHSHL record to 5-4-1.

The Bears downed the Northwest Eagles, 4-1, in their 2nd game of the day for their 16th win. The line of Colin O’Connor (2G/2A) Michael Ambrose (2A) and Jacob Krosky (2G/2A) led the Bears offense scoring all 4 of the Bears goals. Freshman goalie, Collin Mischak, won his 7th game of the season stopping 19 of the 20 shots he faced.

Bears get stung, fall to Medina!

The North Royalton Bears battled hard but fell short losing, 4-1, to the Medina Bees in NCHSHL play. The Bears started slow and trailed 2-0 after the opening period but fought back in the middle frame. North Royalton cut the Bees lead to 2-1, two minutes into the 2nd period, when Dylan Kovach scored on the power play assisted by Nicolai Kolasinski. North Royalton continued to press and nearly tied it up when Jacob Krosky scored shorthanded only to have the goal overturned. Medina netted their third of the game with just over three minutes remaining in the 2nd period. Despite playing a solid 3rd period, it was Medina that added a score in the final frame. The Bears fall to 4-4-1 in league play and 14-8-2 overall.

Bears fall at the Q, lose to Kenston, 2-0.

North Royalton Hockey opened up the New Year at Quicken Loans Arena on January 2nd falling to the Kenston Bombers, 2-0, in non-league play. The Bears looked sluggish but still managed to hang with the Bombers thanks in large part to the solid play of their net minder, Joey Fratantonio who stopped 23 of 25 shots. The loss drops the Bears overall record to 13-7-2.

Bears top Beavers, defeat Riverside 3-1

The North Royalton Bears improved to 4-3-1 in the NCHSHL with a 3-1 win over the Riverside Beavers on January 4th. The Bears got on the board first when Cam Cook’s shot from outside the blue line snuck past the Beavers tender. North Royalton added to their lead midway through the second period, on the power-play, when Jacob Krosky put home a Colin O’Connor feed, also assisting on the goal was Paul Jablonski. Riverside got one of their own just 22 seconds later reducing the Bear’s lead to one. Timmy Orlosky netted an empty netter to seal the game with just under a minute left in the third assisted by Krosky and Cook. Joey Fratantonio continued his solid play in net for the Bears stopping 20 of the 21 shots he faced. The win improves the Bears overall record to 14-7-2.

The North Royalton Bears participated in the Lake Catholic, Cougar Holiday Extravaganza December 26-29th in Mentor, Ohio. The Bears played well winning three of four with their only loss coming to the eventual tournament champion, Lake Catholic Cougars.

The Bears opened up play against Columbus Northeast on December 26th and defeated the Storm, 4-3. Jacob Krosky led the Bears offense scoring twice while Eric Golla and Nicolai Kolasinski each added solo tallies. Collin Mischak was solid in net for North Royalton stopping 26 of the 29 shots faced.

North Royalton returned to play a pair on December 27th. The Bears defeated the Mentor Cardinals, 4-3, in their morning game before falling to the Lake Catholic Cougars, 6-1, in their afternoon game. Against Mentor, Dylan Kovach led all scorers with 5 points (2G/3A) followed closely by Jacob Krosky with four points (2G/2A), Cam Cook (2G/2A) and Mike Ambrose with three points (3A). In the afternoon game, the Bears lone goal was netted by Dylan Kovach with an assist being awarded to Nicolai Kolasinski.

The Bears took on Kent Roosevelt in the tournaments 3rd place game on December 28th downing the Raiders, 2-0. Joey Fratantonio played an outstanding game for the Bears earning his team leading third shutout. The Bears broke a scoreless tie midway through the middle period when Colin O’Connor fed Anthony Picciano who buried a slap shot from the point. North Royalton added their 2nd goal of the game early in the final period when Mike Ambrose tapped in Paul Jablonski rebound. The win improved the Bears overall record to 13-6-2.
