WASHINGTONVILLE – The Wizards put up a solid performance at Poughkeepsie in week zero and will look to continue the momentum at home versus Valley Central.

KINGSTON – The Tigers shut down Cardinal Spellman in the opener and visit Warwick, whose offense struggled despite gaining a win over Binghamton.

OUR LADY OF LOURDES – The Warriors beat Spackenkill by 30 and have the early jump over visiting Pine Bush, which scrimmaged a week ago.

MINISINK – Tough call here, as Wallkill rolled over New Paltz. MV scrimmaged Maine-Endwell, a football machine.

CHESTER – The Hambletonians went scoreless in a 28-0 loss to Section One Bronxville. Liberty also had problems in a big loss to Highland. We’ll give Chester the nod in their home opener.

PORT JERVIS – The Raiders put up 48 on Monticello and Beacon lost by nine to Red Hook. Port should take its second straight, and first league win of the season.

SPACKENKILL – The Spartans and Dover both returned to 11-man football and lost in week zero. Spackenkill has been stronger the last few years, so we’ll give them the advantage here.

ELLENVILLE – The Blue Devils travel to Fallsburg to get their 8-man schedule going. The Comets have made good strides, but Ellenville should take this one.

PINE PLAINS/RHINEBECK – The Bombers entertain defending 8-man champion Tri-Valley. This may mark a very close week one contest.

PAWLING – The Tigers host Rondout Valley after the Ganders lost their 8-man debut to Section Four Moravia. Pawling gets the edge here.

MIDDLETOWN – The Middie Bears scrimmaged Suffern last week while Goshen lost by three touchdowns to Section One Mahopac. We’ll go with Middletown, a larger Class AA team.

CORNWALL – The Dragons put 49 on the scoreboard at Colonie. We expect more of the same against Monticello this week in a Class A crossover.

NEW PALTZ – The Huguenots endured a tough loss at Wallkill, but should recover to score enough versus the Class B league rival Saugerties Sawyers.

O’NEILL – The defending state Class C champs only mustered one touchdown in a loss to Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk in week zero. The offense will need to get going at Red Hook, which batted away Beacon last Saturday.

BURKE – The Eagles couldn’t deal with state power Tioga, but will get a chance to even the score against visiting Highland. The Huskies dominated Liberty, but Burke will prove a tougher challenge.

SULLIVAN WEST – The Bulldogs start things off on the road at Onteora. The Eagles will have the friendly confines of home going for them, so SW better stay sharp.

MILLBROOK/WEBUTUCK – The Blazers/Wildcats merge should produce a victory in its debut at Eldred. This marks a return to football at the varsity level for both Millbrook and Webutuck athletes.
