Nice hustle!  Check out Jonny's stats.  Another home run and 5 RBIs in one week.  He's workin' hard and no doubt making an impression on the Tampa Bay Organization and fans.  We'll have to make him an honorary Mud Dawg.  Aarrrrrooooo  Jonny!!!

Practice Tuesday, May 3rd @ Cherry Valley

Please bring the boys to Cherry Valley (aka Mary Collins) for this weeks practice. We will start at 5 and finish by 7. Go Dawgs..!!!
Congratulations on a big win against Neve Brothers, a team that's much better than their record shows.  You boys hit the ball last night and made some great defensive plays.  Most impressive was how you kept your cool when you got  behind and just focused on what you needed to do.  Augie Dawg, that hit of yours was the turning point and way to go Willy, knocking in the winning run.  Wow!  Click the itty bitty camera below to watch Willy knock Moon Dawgy in for the game winning run in this great come from behind victory!

Gomes Bros Fan Club News

News from the Big Leagues...  Pitcher Jesus Colome was activated from the Disabled List putting the squeeze play on our favorite Devil Ray Jonny Gomes.  Jonny was optioned back to the AAA Durham Bulls where he'll play every day.  Beats the heck out of sitting in the dugout in Tampa Bay.  Manager Lou Pinella says Jonny "did fine and will be back sometime this summer".  We're gonna hold you to that Lou.  More about Jonny's time with the DRays...  (Scroll all the way down to "Colome back, Gomes out").

Earlier this season...

Jonny Gomes, a former Petaluma American and Valley Little Leaguer is now a Tampa Ray Devil Ray and hit his first major league career home run this week!  Maybe one of you will be the next Petaluma Little Leaguer to makeThe Show!

The Gomes family is loaded with talent.  Jonny's older brother Joey is playing for the High A Visalia Oaks this season. The Oaks are a Devil Rays' farm club so the two brothers could end up playing together.  Joey's career also started right here at Petaluma American.  He played college ball at the University of Santa Clara, earning First Team All-American honors in 2002 (!!!!) before being selected as an 8th Round Draft Pick by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.  More about Joey:  Joey Gomes - Santa Clara University

Joey was named the Hudson Valley “Player of the Year” and made the NY-Penn League All Star Team his first year in professional ball. In 2004, Joey hit in 22 straight games, tying the Tampa Bay Organization record for 2nd most consecutive games with a hit.  By the way... not a single error in 79 "opportunities".  (Whoa Joe... those are some impressive stats!) He was promoted to the AA Montgomery Biscuits where he hit .270 with two HRs and 8 RBIs.  Joey got off to a slow start this year in Visalia, but picked up the pace in April and June looks like a strong month in the making.  News on Joey is a little harder to dig up, but watch for updates with whatever I can find!

Check back here for updates on the unofficial website of the Gomes Bros Fan Club!  Wouldn't it be awesome to see them play together in Tampa?
