NSA State Tournament (Fort Leonard Wood)

Posted by Rick Frevert at Jun 11, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Cats... Results from the June 17th-18th State tournament were as follows: vs. Warcats LOST 9 - 6 vs. Fusion WON 4 - 3 (2 international tie-breaker innings) Well, we had a wet weekend! Playing in the rain all day Saturday, and then with the rest of the tournament cancelled! We played well against the Fusion, and not as well against the Warcats. However, we learned a lot from both games. We learned that if we play with fewer errors, we can beat a team with a good pitcher. We also learned that we don't have to hit the ball out of the park to score runs. We surprised the Fusion with some small ball and got them a little frustrated. Then, we just hit well enough to put them away. We got some good pitching from Jana and Lindsay! Great baserunning and timely defense helped out a lot! It is really unusual to have 9 teams in an age group with all 9 teams going 1 - 1 in pool play. There were some good teams and lots of parity out there. Even though it got rained out, we enjoyed our weekend with the team. We will have practice Tuesday night at Parkway Central from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. We are off on Thursday, and I will have this weekend's schedule as soon as I get one. See you at practice! imageimage

D-Cats win the June 3rd Sullivan Tournament

Posted by Rick Frevert at May 30, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The D-Cats won the tournament in Sullivan over the June 3rd weekend. They went undefeated (5-0) for the tournament and allowed only one run to be scored against them and that was in the Championship game. There were several spectacular plays made and our pitching and defense was very good. The scores of the games were 5-0, 6-0, 4-0, 8-0 and then 2-1. We put the pressure on the other teams to get us out by running like rabbits. Way to go ladies!image

Cats... 1st - we had a pretty good tournament considering we had illnesses and injuries this weekend. We were a bit inconsistent, but had a couple of really good games! I think all in all, a good warmup for Nationals. This is definately a tournament we would consider doing next year! 2nd - we want to thank the Schmidts for all the hard work they did for the barbeque! What a fun time! Thanks to Donn and Rick for cooking, and thanks to all the families for contributing their dishes! After we told the Chill about it, they picnic'd the next day! Everyone wanted to join the fun. Here is how we fared: SGS Magic Red - won 5 - 0 Anderson Storm - lost 12 - 0 Indy Diamond Chix - lost 4 - 2 Indiana Storm - won 3 - 1 MSA Diamond Terror - won 6 - 0 Angels - lost 4 - 1 Classics - tie 6 - 6 Angels - tie 0 - 0 Chill - lost 2 - 1 Overall: 3 - 4 – 2 If anyone has any questions, let me know. Nationals is just around the corner, so we need to make sure the last minute stuff is taken care of. See you all Thursday night at 6 and 9 on field #8! We are wearing black uniforms with black socks. imageimage

Cats... Wow...we pulled it off! With a great amount of teamwork, we managed to put on a very nice tournament this weekend. Neil and I could never have done this without all of you helping us out. We want to thank Donn and Sue Schmidt for helping us get it organized and working so hard every day of the event. We also want to thank Tricia for making the coolest tournament apparel and working tirelessly all weekend. Donn and Bill handled the trophy presentations and Bill took team photos of the winners. He posted them on his website and now all the winners can go and get a photo souvenier of their weekend. It was a really great idea! For everyone - parents and kids - who put in their hours selling shirts and fruit bars - a huge thank you. We made more money than we thought we would on those two things! We will get a complete accounting to you all as soon as we get that done! The checks should all be written by tomorrow so we can see the actual profit! As always, we are proud to be part of a team that really works like a team. We have a great group of families and truly enjoy working side by side with you all. We did it!!!!! Here is how we did:
