Kenosha Rules

Posted by Marc Epner at Mar 7, 2008 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

18 Minute Halves (clock stops on all whistles in final 2 minutes of each half)

3 Timeouts per game

There will be an admission charge at the gate

Each team supplies a scorer or clock worker

The following rules apply to both the 5th Grade & 6th Grade teams:

1.                There is only one jump ball at the beginning of the game.  All other jump ball situations and start of quarters will be alternate.

2.                If more than two (2) bench technicals are called, coach/player must leave the facility.

3.                Only players listed on a team’s roster can participate in the tournament.

4.                A player can only be listed on one team roster per tournament division.  No player can change teams or be on more than one team within a tournament division. This rule does allow for a player to play for multiple teams as long as those teams are entered in different tournament divisions within the Lakeman Tournament (i.e., a player can be on the roster for a team entered in the House League Division as well as on the roster for a team entered in the Travel Team Division).  Please contact the Tournament Directors if there are any questions concerning this rule.

5.                A player on an AHYBA team roster must play for his AHYBA team during the tournament.  An AHYBA player may not play for another team in the same division as his AHYBA team during the tournament.  An AHYBA team may not borrow players from other AHYBA teams.  Please contact the Tournament Directors if there are any questions concerning this rule.

6.                No team may field a player from a higher grade level under any circumstances.  In other words, for the 5th grade tournament, no player can be in the 6th grade or higher. For the 6th grade tournament, no player can be in the 7th grade or higher.

Each non-AHYBA team will be required to provide a team roster with birthdates at tournament registration. Please support the spirit of these rules, namely, to ensure that tournament participants fairly compete against players in their own age group.

7.                Decisions of tournament officials are final.

8.                Both teams will have scorekeepers at the score table tracking the game. The bottom (or last) team on the pairing bracket will maintain the “official” score book for the game. The top (or first) team on the pairing bracket will provide a person to operate the electronic score board for the game.

House 5th Grade Tournament Game Rules

All rules are IHSA except as follows:

1.                Two twenty-minute halves with running clock except for the last two minutes of the 2nd half. If there is a score differential of 20 points or more during the last two minutes the clock will not stop.

2.                Overtime - If a game is tied after regulation, an overtime period of 2 minutes in length will be played.  The clock will stop for any violations. If the game is tied after two overtime periods, a sudden death overtime period will follow with the first team to take a two point lead declared the winner.

3.                Free throw distance is 12 feet.

4.                5 second lane violation.

5.                Man-to-man defense only, except during full court press situations.

6.                Full court press - losing team may press during the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half (and overtime) only, with a zone or man-to-man press defense permissible. Both teams may press (last 2 minutes) if point differential is 4 points or less. Team must return to man-to-man defense when the ball is in the front court.

7.                28.5 will be used in games.

8.                Free substitutions (no minimum playing time).

8.                3 point baskets are allowed if court has 3 point line.

10.           Each team receives three (3) timeouts per game. All timeouts are one (1) minute in length.

11.           All coaching must be from the bench.  No coaching is allowed from the spectators seating area.
