The Bowen Scarff Bulldogs scored 10 runs in six innings to beat the Issaquah Knights 10 – 0 in the first round of the 2007, Senior Babe Ruth, Washington State Championships in Port Angeles Thursday July 19.
Pat Meisenheimer was the winning pitcher going 5 innings with 7 strikeouts, 1 walk and giving up only 3 hits.  Troy Romney pitched the 6th inning of the game which was ended by the 10 run rule in the bottom of the 6th.
The Bulldogs scored one run in the first inning but only after the first two hitters struck out.  Brady Kincannon, singled with two outs and clean up hitter Andy Racus, drove him in with a double.  The bulldogs would strike out only two more times for the rest of the game.
The hits did not start coming until the 4th inning when Romney singled in Bryant VanEngelenburg who reached on an error.  With one out, Kevin Toal, who had 3 hits on the day, drove in a run on a controversial play by the Short Stop that was officially scored an error.  Toal showed his own defensive prowess in the top half of the inning.  With a runner on second, and no outs, Kevin snared a ground ball up the line, tagged first, then threw across the diamond to 3rd baseman Colton Hiles to get the runner out as he tried to advance to 3rd on the ground ball.  That play ended the Knight’s most serious offensive threat of the game.
Kevin Voss, came in on a pinch hit assignment and was hit by a pitch to load the bases and set up a 2 RBI single from Jordon Beers and an RBI single from Colton Hiles.
The Dogs scored four more runs in the 5th inning highlighted by triples from VanEngelenburg and Toal.  Toal Drove in the game ending run in the 6th with a line drive to deep left center field.
Four Bulldogs had a multi-hit game with Toal 3 for 4, Romney 2 for 3, Beers 2 for 4 and Hiles 2 for 4.
The Bulldogs face the tournament hosts, and defending State Champion, Port Angeles Wilders, at 7:00 pm Friday evening.  Colton Hiles will go to the mound for the Bulldogs.
