This Program Will Help Our Ball Players Transition To The Next Level Of Play In The Regular Season Much Easier... Please Read The Following Wrap-Up Of The 2002 Fall League: The RGMVM LL Fall League run in sponsorship with Councilmen Dennis Gallagher and the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council concluded this past weekend under sunny skies and great weather. Special thanks goes out to fall league Commissioner Cora Modica, Bob Monahan Of the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council, and Councilman Dennis Gallagher for their support of the fall league. A word of thanks also goes out to the coaches, parents and umpires who come out and supported us. The Final game write-ups can be found on the leagues brand new and improved web site at www.rgmvm.com. Visit us on-line and take the fall League opinion poll. Make your voice heard for next year. The games were played every Saturday from September. There was also a Girls Softball Fall League that ran every Sunday. Not to be forgotten was the great job that Mark Ferran, Rob “ Superman” Hofmann, and Heather “The First Lady Of Softball” Hofmann did during the fall softball instructional league. THANKS GUYS! The fall league will help the leagues players develop quicker for the coming 2003 season. Again thanks to all that came out and supported us. Any manager looking to start travel teams should contact their Player Agent. These travel teams will help develop the ball players in the league to compete at the next level of play, and will encourage the serious ballplayer in the league to play and practice year round. The League has joined up with the Long Ball Club to help promote year round baseball participation and development for its players. The program is run by former and current Major League ballplayers and will run over the winter for 15 weeks. This program is run indoors and runs right up to opening day. If you are looking for further information please call Pat Piteo at 416-0047 or visit the league web site at www.rgmvm.com. Rookie Game Summaries: On the last weekend of fall ball at RGMVM, the baseball gods sent down the spring like weather and the legends of the fall took to the field for one last time before packing the gear away for next year. The Mighty Bulldogs laced up the cleats and took the field for last time, they handed the ball to their starting pitcher Anthony " Mad Dog" DeMario. Mad Dog would pitch a strong first inning striking out the side. The Doggies bats would get going early and often in this one behind the hard hitting of Anthony " Mad Dog" DeMario (2-2), Robbie "R-Train" Hofmann (2-2), Chris "Big Dog" Piteo (2-2), Dennis "The Hammer" Hatton (1-2), Zach Pabon (1 - 2). It was a great hitting day for the Doggies, who swung the bats hard all day and did not rely on the walk. The doggies would then hand the ball to their Ace Pitchers the "R-Train" and the "Big Dog". The "Train" would mow the track in the second, not stopping until he struck out the side in order. Then the ball would be handed over to the stopper "Big Doggie", the Doggie would rare back to battle through the last inning and close out the fall season with a win for the Bulldogs. Congratulations to all the young Rookie ballplayers who participated in the fall program. Minor Game Summaries The Shanley's Waste Management All-Stars Haul Away Their Final Win Of The Fall Season And Stay Undefeated Coach Pat “Buttermaker” Shanley field manager and all around good guy of Shanley's Waste Management All-Stars put away the heaters and blankets used in last weeks game and gear up for what would be there last game of a great fall season. Gone was the cry from last week of “Who’s big idea was it to play fall ball anyone..its sooo darn cold” from coach Buttermaker. Yes the weather was hot and once again so was the Waste Management Boys offense, doing the hauling for the All-Stars was "Big Doggie" Piteo 3 - 3, Rob "Slammin" Shanley 3 - 3 (Double & HR ) Sal "the Barber" Ciccone ( 2 - 3), Johnny "Go-Go" Gomez ( 2 - 3 ) Timmy - Tim, Davey - Croquet, Robbie - R-Train, Manny - Pockets, Luke - Skywalker and Air - Jordan all chipped in with hits for the radioactive offense. Coach Buttermaker, would hand the ball to young starter Rob Shanley who would pitch two solid innings to start the game. The Coach was really on top of his game, several times going to the cell phone to get advice from Fall League Commissioner Cora Modica at the closed concession stand during some tough game situations. The Waste Management Boys once again got some great pitching in this one from their young hurlers. Chris "Big Doggie" Piteo would breeze through an inning of work striking out a pair; Luke used the force and a great fastball to battle through the fourth inning. The Waste Management Boys would get a great defensive play from team mascot and pinch left fielder Matt "Moose" Hofmann who would gun down a runner heading to third to kill the rally. Coach Buttermaker, would hand the ball to young closer Robbie "R-Train" Hofmann who closed the door and fall season for the Waste Management All-Stars as they loaded up the containers and hauled away a great fall season. Girls Fall Instructional Softball Summery On a overcast day at RGMVM Seither Stadium, the girls of fall took to the field for the last time this year. The dedicated bunch consisted mainly of Glendale Diner and Nulite Devils. The girls constantly work very hard at improving their game and many have recently made High School and travel teams. The remaining bunch is destined to make their High School teams in the years to come. I would like to thank all the committed parents and players who came ready to play each week. It is a pleasure to get the opportunity to work with this group of players.
