The season 2002-2003 in brief….

(...ein ernstes Wort...) From the Team Manager as written in the “Mei Wenti”. For some questions there are simply no answers, for example: “Why we did not win the league this year?” Everything started as planned: new name, new dress and a lot of new players. But what good are over 40 registered players (the only result not honored with a trophy) if only few survive the tough week, especially the Thursdays and Fridays. At least our sponsor Judys was happy with our performance this year. Most frequent comment of our players when met in Maoming Lu: “I am just checking the others” (“For whom you carry the beer, then?”). Of course there are plenty other excuses for not reaching our target, only think about the weather last season. Whereas the league showed again a qualitative improvement we “lost” our complete defense already in the middle of the season. But since the SIFL has no age regulation we could manage to bring together a team (almost) every Sat. Fun we had, that’s for sure - more off than on the pitch as a fact does not really matter, does it? Best players quote of the year as example: “I am comiiiing!!!” (Heinrich, demanding for the ball in the match against Azzurri). Strangely, whenever we played best (against the TOPs) we lost, most of our other games … you know. Statistically we fell by two ranks compared to last season but nonetheless we will aim for higher next season. Promised!!! An advantage could bring dramatic changes of SIFL rules, such as kick-off starting from Sat afternoon and increasing Chinese players on pitch from three to at least ten. PLEASE!!! However changes are certain, if only you will see the Krauts with a new outfit next season and perhaps with a new name … Last but not least it should be mentioned that we at least got some other – equally honorable than the trophy itself – awards such as: Jacky finished sixth in top scorer list with 11 goals (even though 1 was forgotten against Vikings, they just lost the game report – so it would bring him on third position) Gerri was selected into the dream team as, of course, defender! Unfortunately he was not there, neither to pick up his price nor to play actually. Number 2 in biggest squad with 45 registered players, only topped by Japan who registered 51 (but including lot of females, who as you know, do not even know what the round thing is for…) Well, lets look forward, enjoy your summer but in September …. You know the drill…. Zicke, zacke, oi, oi, oi!image
