HENDERSONVILLE The Beech High School baseball team erupted offensively on Thursday evening, handing visiting Hendersonville a 15-7 setback.

The two teams met at Drakes Creek Park just two days earlier, with the Commandos claiming a 4-1 win to clinch the District 9-AAA North Division championship.

The Buccaneers (18-12 overall, 5-1 in the District 9-AAA North Division) turned the tables on Thursday though, chasing Hendersonville senior starting pitcher Grant Williams – a Middle Tennessee State University signee – from the game during three-run third inning.

However, Beech didn’t stop there, piling up 18 hits against four Commando pitchers.

The Commandos (21-5, 5-1) actually took a 6-3 lead with a six-run second inning. Senior Ian MacMaster and sophomore Brett Coker provided run-scoring hits in the frame.

Coker had three of his team’s seven hits.

Buccaneer senior Jacob Jenkins led off the three-run first inning with his seventh home run of the season, a round-tripper in his second consecutive at-bat.

Then, Beech junior Chase Waller singled in two runs in the three-run third, tying the contest at 6.

Buc senior Jesse McCoy singled in two runs in the four-run fourth inning, and junior teammate Ty Sutley also singled in a run in the frame.

Jenkins and junior Ryan Mortensen had run-scoring hits in the sixth inning.

Beech seniors Ty Maskill and Isaac Robertson had four hits each, and Maskill scored five runs. McCoy had three hits, scored two runs and drove in three runs.

Buccaneer junior Dalton Hall (5-1) settled down after the second inning and picked up the complete-game win, scattering nine hits. The right-hander issued three base on balls and struck out seven hitters.
