Posted by Andy Gilley on Apr 19 2018 at 05:00PM PDT

The Commandos picked up thier 20th win of the year on Thursday night with a 2-1 win over the Goodpasture Cougars.

Junior right-hander Brandon Tucker picked up his 5th win of the year on the mound going 5 and 1/3 innings.  Tucker allowed only the one earned run, a solo homer off the bat of Cole Carter in the 6th inning.  Senior Michael Waller came on in relief of Tucker in the sixth to retire the only batter he faced via a strikeout.  Kobe Carter came on after Waller to get the final out of the sixth and Carter retired the side in order in 7th to pick up his 5th save of the year.

The Commandos got their two runs in the first and second innings.  A two-out single from Harrison Williams in the first scored Hayden Mullins to give HHS a 1-0 lead.  Reid Nelson had an infield single in the second to score courtesey runner Grant Lang.  Lang had stolen third after coming on to run for Nate Vaughn who had singled to lead off the inning.  The two runs were all the Commandos would need on this day as Tucker, Waller and Carter made them stand up.

With the win HHS improves to 20-4 overall.  The Commandos will next be in action vs Springfield on Friday night at 7:00 at Drakes Creek Park.
