HHS DEFEATS BEECH 3-0

Posted by Andy Gilley on Apr 26 2017 at 05:00PM PDT

The Commandos got a complete game shutout from Hayden Mullins and some timely hits to defeat the Buccaneers on Tuesday night.

Mullins struck out 12 Beech hitters, including striking out the side in the 7th to pick up his 4th win of the year. The sophomore allowed only three hits on the game.

HHS struck for two runs in the bottom of the second when Hayden Layne led off with a triple and scored on a Gabe Dalton single.  With two outs later in the inning, Caid Sanders singled to bring in Harrison Williams from second to make the score 2-0 HHS.

The Commandos would add another run in the bottom of the fifth.  A one out walk to Austin Mays and a Beech error put runners at first and second with no outs.  Layne delivered his second hit of the night, a single, to drive in Mays and make the score 3-0.

The Bucs would load the bases in the seventh thanks to a single, a walk and a hit batter.  However Mullins would get two strikeouts to end the threat and the game.

With the win HHS improves to 17-7 overall and 7-3 in District 9AAA.  The Commandos will next play at Friendship Christian on Thursday night at 7:00.
