HHS DEFEATS HILLSBORO 12-2

Posted by Andy Gilley on Apr 09 2017 at 05:00PM PDT

The Commandos got three hits from Brett Coker and four RBIs from Hayden Layne en route to a 12-2 victory over the Burroughs from Hillsboro on Friday night.

Hillsboro took an early 2-1 lead going to the third inning but RBI singles from Coker and Layne gave the Commandos the lead back at 3-2 which they would only extend from there.

The Commandos would put the game out of reach with six runs in the fourth inning.  A one-out double from Reid Nelson scored Chase Nelson and Hayden Mullins who had walked and been hit by a pitch.  Back to back two out walks to Coker and Harrison Williams loaded the bases and Layne cleared them with  a three-run triple to make the score 8-2.  Layne would score on a wild pitch to give HHS a 9-2 lead.

The Commandos would end the game in the bottom of the fifth as back to back doubles from Brett Coker and Eric Altizer scored three runs to give HHS the 12-2 victory.

Senior Andrew Dorris picked up the win on the mound tossing the game's middle two innings.  Senior Matt Nicoll pitched a scoreless inning in relief.  With the win HHS improves to 10-4 on the year.
