HHS DEFEATS LEBANON 8-2

The Commandos bounced back from a loss to Mt Juliet to defeat district 9AAA foe Lebanon 8-2. 

Junior Grant Williams got the start on the mound and was dominant in his 5 innings of work.  Williams allowed only one earned run, a solo homer by Lebanon's Lathan Whittington in the 5th, while striking out 10 Blue Devil batters.  Senior Matthew Osborne pitched the games final two innings striking out four in his two innings of work.

HHS scored two runs in the first inning and never trailed the entire game.  Drew Richard led off with a single and stole second.  Richard advanced to third on a sigle from Connor Fischer.  Richard scored when Ben Smith grounded out to second base which also moved Fischer to second.  Fischer would come around to score on a wild pitch to give the Commandos a 2-0 lead in the first.

Austin Brown led off the bottom of the fourth with a single and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Jarcques Wordlaw.  A single off the bat of Cooper Brenning scored Brown to give HHS a 3-0 lead. 

Lebanon would score twice in the top of the fifth.  The solo homer from Whittington led off the inning to make the score 3-1.  With two outs Bryce Lester drew a walk and Lester scored all the way from first on an errant pick off attempt that sailed into the right field corner, making the score 3-2 going to the bottom of the 5th.

The Commandos would rally for 3 in the bottom of the fifth to put the game out of reach.  Justin Long led off the inning by reaching on an error.  Long moved to second on a sac bunt from Richard.  A Fischer single put runners at the corners with one out.  Fischer stole second and moved to third as Ben Smith had his second RBI grounder of the game scoring Long.  A double off the left-center wall from Austin Brown scored Fischer to make the score 5-2 and Wordlaw singled to drive in Brown to give the Commandos a 6-2 lead.

HHS would put the game out of reach in the bottom of the 6th.  A lead off walk to DH Aaron Weakley and a wild pitch was followed with a one out single from Justin Long to put runners at first and third.  Aris Welden, who was pinch running for Weakley scored on a sac fly from Richard and three straight walks would drive Long in to give the game its final score of 8-2.
