WORTH SCOTT AWARD WINNERS
The Worth Scott Award was created in 2003 by Coach Hendrix as the only team award given to a Commando Baseball player or supporter. There is no team MVP, Most Improved, Best Offensvie Player or anything like that. There is simply the Worth Scott Award which is named for 2000 graduate Worth Scott who led his teams during his junior and senior seasons to the State Touranment and was a four-year starter and All-State performer at HHS before going on to play at Vanderbilt University where he had what is possibly the biggest hit in the history of the school, a two-out walk-off homerun against Tennessee to put Vanderbilt in the SEC tournament for the first time in more than 20 years. The award is not necissarily named after Worth for his playing abilities as much as his pride and dedication to Commando Baseball and the way in which he came to the park every day ready to work hard and be the best teammate he could be. This award has been given to players, parents and supporters throughout the years as we choose the person that best fits what taking pride in our baseball program means!
