Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 HEB Classic Tournament Championship Game

Clear Lake recovered from a lackluster first half to defeat Shertz Clemens 80-68 to win the tournament championship. Ajare Sanni had 22 points. Riley Abercrombie scored 19, Zaid Harris (tournament MVP) had 15, and Jere Maldonado (All Tournament) had 10. In the first half Lake missed 10 free throws while Clemens hit ten treys. It was obvious Lake had the better team but it was not obvious until 3:27 remaining in the third quarter that the Falcons were going to prove they were better. Lake outscored Clemens 29 to 16 in the third and never trailed again.

This was season game 15 (12-3 record)

Friday 6pm, Dec 8, 2017 Semifinals

In what some believed to be the real championship game, Clear Lake defeated Vandergrift HS by a score of  65-53. Vandergrift boasts one of the premier sophomores in the nation, #6 nationally ranked Greg Brown (6'7"), who scored 35 of Vandegrift's 53 points. For Lake, Ajare had 26, Jere Maldonado had 18, and Zaid Harris had 10.

Shertz Clemens, (San Antonio), defeated Brazosport in the late game so Clemens will face off with Clear Lake Saturday at 4:30pm for the championship.
