Practices Start October 1, 2005

Posted by Marianne Graham on Sep 14 2005 at 05:00PM PDT
Practices will start October 1, 2005 at SouthMetro Ice & Inline in Centerville, OH. SouthMetro is allowing us to use the ice as a quasi-pick-up slot. What this means is players will show up and sign in and pay for each practice that night. Normally ice time has to be paid for in advance, so they are being very considerate of the stage of our organization. The ice initially will be based on a sliding scale depending on the number of players who attend each practice. In order for this to happen there will be a minimum number of players who must attend and a maximum amount that players will pay. In order to get on the ice we will need a minimum of 10 players. Otherwise we are really not using the ice the way it should be used. If less than 10 people show we cannot have practice. It's not as confusing as I'm making it sound. Basically, each practice will cost $7 to $15. Bowling leagues cost about $13 a week, for a reference point. I hope to be able to come up with a few ways to decrease the cost in the future. Audrey is researching a few different ways to decrease costs now. Until then practice/pick-up will be Saturday Nights at 11 p.m. (until 12 a.m) at SouthMetro. For those of you new to hockey you may find the time to be pretty late, but usually established teams get the first pick of ice time. Ice is more expensive in "prime time" and for those of you with families you can be done with your family events before practice when it is this late. Also having it on a Saturday night gives us a better chance of picking up a few exhibition games when teams are in town playing Cincy. imageimage
