Game 1: Atkinson won 2-1 behind Keegan Wilkinson's complete game effort. Game 2: Atkinson won 17-2 behind Ryan Mason, Jake Relihan, and Drew Meeks on the mound. The Rebels' young players are doing a good job in the absence of some of the older players who are involved in other activities (legion, camps, etc.). CONGRATULATIONS

Jonathon Guthrie and Cam Newmans have each accepted scholarships to play at Gordon College next season. Both had received several scholarship offers to play baseball at the next level. Each of these young men are tremendous leaders and competitors. They will be missed by the Atkinson program. Guthrie was a 3-year starter at catcher for the Rebels. He was named All-Region each year (1st team twice). He threw out over 60% of potential base stealers each season with a high of 72% in 2004. Newmans was a 4-year starter for Atkinson at pitcher and shortstop. He was named 1st team All-Region 3 times. He was named the Region 1A Defensive Player of the Year twice (2003 season and 2004 season) and was named the overall Region 1A Player of the Year in 2005. He was also named Georgia Dugout Club Player of the Week in 2005. Cam now holds 7 single season and/or career school records. Also, former Rebel standout Shane Newmans has signed a baseball scholarship (BIG ONE) to continue his playing career at Division 1 Savannah State University. Shane graduated from Atkinson in 2002 and was a big part of that year's "Elite 8" team. He signed a full scholarship with ABAC out of high school and started for the Stallions for 2 years (medical redshirt 1 year). In addition, former Rebel Jarred Morris has accepted a pitching coach position at Brewton Parker College. Jarred also graduated from Atkinson in 2002 and was a big part of that year's "Elite 8" team.imageimage

CONGRATULATIONS to the 1994 team for being the only other Atkinson team to make it to the Final 4! Thank you to our AD and the handful of former players who have documented and updated Atkinson's playoff history (whether through memory or items). Especially THANK YOU to those who provided the copies of the original old stat sheets and schedules with results.imageimageimage
