Chiefs Appeal Maxner Ruling

Posted by Jody Jewers at Jul 12, 2001 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Sackville Chiefs have appealed to BNS, President, George Farmer the decision to overturn an earlier ruling issued by the NSSBL with regards to the game played June 6, 2001 against the Truro Bearcats. The appeal committee issued their decision on July 5,2001. The Sackville Chiefs then had 7 days to appeal this decision to President Farmer. Today, Sackville Chiefs, General Manager Gordon Jones filed the appeal at the BNS office. While the Sackville Chiefs have the utmost respect for the appeal committee, General Manager Jones strongly feels all the facts were not presented. No one from the Sackville Chiefs was invited to attend the appeal hearing. Therefore the action taken today will hopefully give the Sackville Chiefs an opportunity to present their case.

Posted by Jody Jewers at Jul 8, 2001 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Baseball Nova Scotia overturned the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League's ruling on the eligablity of the Truro Bearcats' Jeff Maxner. The Sackville Chiefs had protested a game between the Chiefs and the Bearcats in which Truro won 4-3. After the information went before a NSSBL protest committee, it was decided that Jeff Maxner was inelligible to have been on the Bearcats' roster, and the win was taken away from Truro. With the appeal, Truro gets their win back.
