 Camp Director MARQUES GALES Marques Gales will enter his fourth season as the Trinity College Head Wrestling Coach in 2016-17, after guiding the Bantams to a 7 dual wins last winter. Trinity finished 9th at the 2016 New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Championship Tournament after posting a 3-1 record, Trinity's highest finish in the past eight seasons. Gales saw success in his first year at the helm of the program, as the team sent two representatives to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2001 in 2013-14. Gales was also honored for his outstanding effort as one of three to share the 2014 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Rookie Coach of the Year honors. Trinity finished 11th out of 18 teams at the 2014 NCAA Northeast Regional Wrestling Tournament. Gales came to Trinity from Springfield College, where he served as an assistant coach for three years. While on campus at Springfield, he helped the Pride win three New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Championships and coached five All Americans and one NCAA Division III Champion. A 2010 graduate of San Francisco State University, an NCAA Division II National Qualifier, and a two-time Western Super Regional placewinner, Gales was a highly-decorated wrestler during his college years and earned honors for both academic and athletic achievement. Gales was a both a NCAA National Qualifier and an NWCA National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All American in 2009. Earning his bachelor's degree from San Francisco State in physical education, Gales volunteered as an assistant coach at his alma mater before joining the Springfield staff in 2010. Gales coached eight national qualifiers in three years and helped the Pride finish 14-2 in dual meets and earn the No. 8 ranking in the final national poll in 2012-13. He is a member of the NWCA Leadership Academy and holds a master's degree in sport and exercise psychology from Springfield College. Gales is the Executive Director of the Connecticut chapter of Beat The Streets Wrestling and is also employed by Capitol Region Education Council's (CREC) Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Middle School in Windsor as an Associate Instructor.
