Shelbyville Lady Golden Bears Basketball

The Girls Basketball Team traveled to New Palestine for an HHC rival game. The girls have not beaten New Palestine since the 2012-2013 season and were looking to bring their HHC record to 1-1. The Golden Bears led 10-7 after the first quarter and took a 19-15 half time lead into the locker room. The Golden Bears maintained the lead throughout the third quarter but ended the quarter up only one leading 26 to 25. An 11-2 fourth quarter run put the Bears up 37-27 with 2:20 to play. The Golden Bears sulked away the remaining 2:20 to claim a massive HHC win 39-29 and move to 1-1 in the HHC and 6-4 overall. Shelbyville had seven players score and senior Madison Bassett led the way with 11 points. Three players contributed 7 points, Kylee Edwards, Ava Wilson, and Madison Phares. Abby Brenner had 3, Cheyenne Eads and Ellie Simpson rounded out the scoring with 2 points each. Abby Brenner and Ellie Simpson shared the “Game Changer Award”. The JV team defeated New Palestine to move to 8-1 on the year. The JV will travel to New Castle on Thursday for a JV double header with the boys starting at 6 pm. The Varsity will host New Castle for a varsity double header and “PINK Out” on Friday with the Girls starting at 6 pm and the Boys to follow.
