After the top-ranked Cavaliers lost to Eleanor Roosevelt on Thursday, any friendly trash talk would look foolish. The Cavaliers let their play do the talking, bouncing back with a 59-49 triumph over the No. 9 Lakers at the Basketball Academy. Spalding travels to No. 13 Towson Catholic this afternoon, completing a seven-day stretch during which the Cavaliers played four ranked area teams. "Tough week, but it's a player's schedule," said Brooks, who finished with 11 points. All-Metro forward Rudy Gay scored a game-high 21 points for the Cavaliers (11-2). Parris Carter led Lake Clifton (7-3) with 17. Brooks and Gay played on the Cecil Kirk Amateur Athletic Union team with Carter and Chester Frazier. Frazier, a second-team All-Baltimore City/County guard, had only one field goal last night, finishing with five points, as the Cavaliers slowed him with a box-and-one defense.
