COOPER NAMED MANAGER
Jesse Cooper has been named the new manager of Martella's Pharmacy. Cooper is a 2012 graduate of Bishop McCort and 2016 graduate of Seton Hill University. Cooper will be taking over for Paul Knupp, who led Martella's to a 69-19 record the past two seasons and back-to-back championships.
While at Bishop McCort, the Crushers rode Cooper's arm to the 2012 State Championship. Cooper went 5-0 with a save during the postseason run and was named First Team All State. In addition, Cooper is the single season record holder for wins (11) on the mound and stolen bases (26). Cooper finished his career as the only player in Bishop McCort history to reach the 100 hit milestone.
Cooper was also a four-year member of the Seton Hill Baseball Team where he was an infielder and relief pitcher. In 2014, Cooper played a major role as the Griffins won the Atlantic Regional Championship and qualified for the Division II College World Series. In that same season, Cooper was selected as an All-PSAC West First Team selection, Daktronics All Region First Team selection, ABCA Second Team All Region selection, NCBWA Second Team All Region selection, and Daktronics Second Team All American selection as a pitcher, while setting a new school single season and career record in saves. In 2015, Cooper was selected as a Collegiate Baseball Preseason All American and an NCBWA Preseason All Atlantic Region First Team selection. In Cooper’s career with the Griffins, the team qualified for the Atlantic regional all four years, with two championship appearances.
Cooper was also a four-year starter for Martella’s Pharmacy in the AAABA League from 2011-2014 and helped lead his team to 120 wins and four consecutive trips to the National AAABA Tournament, including a third place finish in 2014.
Cooper currently serves as an assistant baseball coach at Bishop McCort High School.
