LA COSTA CANYON HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

CIF PLAYOFF FORMAT There will be four playoff divisions. La Costa Canyon is in Division 1. Each League Champion (not co-champion or tri-champion)shall be guaranteed entry into the first round entry level games. Remaining berths in each division will be filled by at large teams. The top four seeds receive a bye and play their first game at home on Tuesday May 21st. The remaining eight teams play on Monday May 20th to determine which additional four teams will enter the double elimination portion of the tournament starting on Tuesday May 21st. The tournament will follow a double elimination format after the entry level games in two separate brackets. After clinching the Avocado League title and holding a No. 2 ranking in both Newspaper polls the Mavericks could get a first game bye and then play at home on Tuesday May 21st, with a second game on Thursday May 23rd. The top four seeds will be decided at the CIF meeting on Friday night May 17th, with La Costa Canyon, Rancho Buena Vista and Montgomery as the top three league champions and Rancho Bernardo as the next probable seed.
