Nats Sweep Kenosha Kings

Posted by Steve Elliott at Jun 25, 2017 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
West Allis wins two nail biters on Saturday thanks to walkoffs. The Kenosha Kings led most of game one scoring three runs in the second and one in the third. The Nationals managed to tie the game in the fifth with four runs of their own, but the Kings regained the lead with one run in the sixth. That’s when the luck ran out for Kenosha. Jonah Meidl hit a double scoring one run to tie the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh. Then it happened. An error from the Kings’ pitcher Brandon Jeffery allowed a run to score, giving the Nationals a 6-5 win. Game two favored the Nationals for most of the game scoring two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. The Kings tried to comeback tying the game in the seventh. Alex Doud scored the two runs for Kenosha on a single. Unfortunately that was not enough to give Kenosha the win. Adam Karas, in the bottom of the eighth, hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, giving the Nationals a 4-3 win over the Kings.

Pinch Hitter Drew Evanson singled home Garrett Gilbert with two outs in the 10th inning to give the Nationals a hard earned victory over the Kenosha Kings at Kuenn Field in West Allis on Tuesday night.

The Nationals had tied the game in the bottom of the ninth when Shey Smith scored from third on a passed ball with two outs.

Nick McLees picked up the victory in relief of starter Jimmy Jungbauer and relievers Bob Herrick, Kanyon Fellers, and Chad Tindall.

Next up for the Nationals are the Lombard Orioles.   The teams play a 3pm DH on Saturday at Kuenn Field in Rainbow Park, West Allis.

Kenosha downs Nationals on Monday Night

Posted by Steve Elliott at Jun 5, 2017 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The weather was crisp; the team was not.

The Nationals arrived in Kenosha in time to take their first legitimate round of BP and infield prior to Monday's game against the Kings.   In retrospect, show-and-go might have been a better call.

Regardless, there was a game to be played.   The Kings posted single tallies in the first and second innings and a crooked 2 spot in the fourth and never looked back.   The Nats hit some balls hard, but few were rewarded with hits in the box score.   The wind made sure of that.

Johnny Keane led the Nats with two hits and an RBI.  Big head Jake Kolasinski returned from his tour of professional tryout camps to double in a run and push a second home with a ground out.

Next up is a rematch with the Sheboygan A's on Thursday night at beautiful Fred Zirkel Field in McCarty Park, West Allis.   Assuming it doesn't rain, it will be the Nationals home opener.   First pitch is set for 7:30pm.

The West Allis Nationals will make up last Saturday's rain out DH against the Oshkosh Giants on Sunday July 2.   Game will be at same site, Kuenn Field, Rainbow Park, West Allis and start at same time 3pm.   Please plan accordingly.
