With great regret, Jake Koutnik #10 announced that he will miss the majority of the 2003 season to attend to family matters. Koutnik, the team's second baseman and field manager, is coming off his finest season ever. In 2002, Koutnik hit .418 with 1 HR, 15 RBI's and a team record 6 triples. While statistics can be replaced, the real void will be felt in the team's spirit and temperment. Koutnik's aggressive attitude and demanding leadership was a source of inspiration and motivation for all of his teammates. The Nationals offer full support of Koutnik and his tough decision and anxiously await his return to the clubhouse and field of play.
