The WFMHA Board of Directors has listened to all the concerns and considered all of the suggestions.

Now is the time to act.

In order to remain competitive change has to take place. We realize change can be difficult and scary at times, but it is
necessary for our teams and players to remain competitive.

The WFMHA board would like to thank every parent who took the time to complete the year-end coaching survey.

It has provided us with a tremendous amount of insight. Your comments and answers were the basis for next season’s changes.

With these restructuring changes we’re aiming to make teams not only more competitive, but provide an atmosphere where players are having fun and developing their hockey skills.

WFMHA held two surveys within the association – a coaching survey which garnered 288 responses and a team structure survey which captured 166 surveys.

The board also held a coach’s meeting recently to explore opportunities to increase team’s competitiveness not only locally, but also in tournaments as well.

“The session provided great insight and feedback that combined with the survey data gave us the necessary information to assist us to make the changes to our team structure for next season,” said WFMHA director Dan Girard.

WFMHA secretary Matt Duquette said the changes will also allow WFMHA to add an additional four teams to its house league program.

“There will be a renewed focus on all house league teams with special attention given to our foundation levels (Tyke/Novice/Atom). WFMHA understands that our foundation levels are critical to our long
term success,” he said. “There will be investment and restructuring to ensure players of all skill levels enjoy their hockey season and that they are getting the early development they require.”

Due to changing landscapes this will be reviewed annually and subject to change. WFMHA will continue to seek comments and feedback at the end of the season.
