Well at least my football man Jordan Mingeldolph felt at home with a 22-21 score. Exciting, fun and a bit tiring, but we’re on to the next round. If we win tomorrow, we play in a best of 3 Championship next week.

Please be at the field by 11 am tomorrow. We will be at the batting cages to start off with and the game will be on the Minors field. We will be in the 3rd base dugout.

Additionally, I spoke with Manisha tonight about trophies. The league does not give out trophies, but I would like to give them out at our team party. Looked tonight and they are about $13/each for big ones (that’s pretty much all the kids care about). Going to look further if there are some cheaper ones and will keep you posted. Team party will be at my house. Date TBD.

Also, I told the kids I would take them to Carvel today; however, I forgot, I’m also a husband and have to be in Readington for a fundraiser at 6:30. So, ice cream will be after tomorrow’s 1pm game.

While we are working on getting the $100M in funding for a dome, unfortuantely, we are still a little short and due to that fact, tonight’s game is cancelled. We will most likely have our makeup game on Sunday around 1pm however, that time is not finalized yet. Once it is, I’ll update our calendars.

Wow. That was a lot of baseball the past five days. Some exciting (yesterday and Wednesday), some tortuous (Saturday’s game) and some learning (all the above and Friday’s practice dedicated to hitting, which showed yesterday) I’m very proud of all the kids this year. They are ALL improving and have been real fun to coach. Believe it or not, they actually listen for the most part and that is a big reason for them improving.

All in all, I think it was a successful past few days. Our practices up to now really focused on baseball skills, which I have seen great improvement from everyone. We are the youngest team in the league and with that, we need to work now on baseball IQ and game situations. (i.e. getting the ball back to pitcher quicker and not making extra throws). If we made the right throws yesterday and made a couple smarter decisions, there likely would have been a different outcome.

That being said, we have practice scheduled for Friday and we wil work more on baseball situations that day. We will try and do the New Brunswick field again and use Dunham Lebed as a backup. There is a game scheduled for Wednesday, but in all likelihood that will be washed out.
