Coach Pitch Mandatory Interleague Rules

Posted by Robert Staib on Jan 12 2013 at 04:00PM PST

1. The purpose of the Coach Pitch League Program is to provide training and instruction for those candidates who by             reason of age and other factors do not quilify for selection in the regular Little League.

2. 6 year olds are allowed on the 7-8 year old roster provided they have played at least one year of instructional Tee ball.     The child and parent must accept the opportunity before a child is placed on a roster.

3. Minor League Safety balls will be used in all games as follows: Diamond DFX L-5, Worth Riff 5, or equivalent.

4. There is no maximum or minimum roster limit.

5. No stealing.

6. No infield fly rule.

7. No on deck batter.

8. Managers, coaches and players in the dugout only (maximum of 3 adults).  An adult must be in the dugout with the               players at all times.

9. Adults will pitch.

10. Because of the coach pitch, there will be no walks or strike outs.  The players will be taught how to swing the bat at          good pitches.  With the teams coach pitching to their team, the coach will pitch a maximum of 8 pitches per batter.

11. The player/pitcher will remain on the glove side of the adult pitcher.

12. Coaches will pitch overhand for all innings.

13. Coaches will pitch from the rubber at a distance of 46 feet from home plate.

14. Continuous batting order must be used.

15. Free substitution, the only requirement is that at the end of the game all players must have played their required at least 1 at bat and 6 defensive outs.  All players must meet mandatory play.

16. When the last batter gets up or there are 2 outs and the batter hit's the ball, the inning is over once the 3rd out is made or the ball is thrown to any base that is ahead of the lead runner.  The runner can keep going until this occurs.

17. Play stops after an infielder has complete control of the ball and is in the infield.  Any runner that is in progress to the next base may continue, but must stop there.  If a player tries to make a play on the runner, play will continue.

18. There will be no score kept.  This will eliminate the need for umpires.  With the coaches being in the field                       instructing, the coaches will make the decisions if the players are safe or out.  Because we are not keeping score,         the calls will not be critical to the outcome of the game.

19. Teams will play 6 innings or 2 hours from the 1st pitch. whatever comes first.  The home team is responsible for               timeing the game.
