Volunteer Opportunities

Parent volunteers fill every unpaid position at Niles-Centerville Little League.  Board members, managers, coaches, umpires, scorekeepers, team parents and field maintenance personnel are all committed parents who contribute towards the success of our Little League program.  Without the countless hours and dedication from these parent volunteers, it would not be possible to deliver a successful and enriching experience for our players and their families from season to season.

We encourage you to step up to the plate and contribute your time and effort towards another successful season.  Many opportunites exist for you to help including coaching, umpiring, scorekeeping, preping the fields, handling team parent responsibilities and more.  Speak to your team's manager to find out where you can help to make this a great season not only for your team but for the league as a whole.

NCLL Booster Club Needs You!
Whether you have a few hours a month or all the time in the world... a little effort can make a big difference.  Below are just a few opportunities for you to show your support.  The Boosters specifically need volunteers for the following:

Team Parent Coordinator:  primary point person for Team Parents... perfect for those who prefer “home-based” volunteering

Opening/Closing Ceremony:
help organize and stage the teams for the parade, coordinate entertainment, setup/teardown, etc.

Fundraising: research new opportunities, record keepers, tally monies

Event Planner:
assist in planning and coordinating NCLL Special Events: Casino Night, LL Days, Hit-a-thon, etc.

Merchandise: selecting, ordering, and distributing NCLL spirit wear; ordering and coordinating banners, plaques and trophies; store management and staffing.

There are many other ways for you to support NCLL than the few listed above.  If you have a special interest or idea… please contact Kristen Moore, Melaney Ryals or Jeanette Balentine to discuss it.  No volunteer will be denied!

Post-Season Volunteer Opportunities
Please remember to find time for a little extra volunteering following the regular season.  NCLL will be hosting as many as 35 additional games at our fields for Championship (TOC) and All-Star tournaments.  We will be putting out the call for jobs such as Field Prep, Announcers, Snack Shack Duty, Tournament officials, etc. and can always use an extra hand.

Volunteer Application & Background Check
Anyone who has contact with the players is required to submit a completed volunteer application with a copy of their driver's license and pass a background check.  We encourage all parents and volunteers to fill out a volunteer form before the season begins.  That way you are cleared and screened in advance of any volunteer time (this includes Snack Shack duty and assisting on the field during practices).  Submit your completed application with a copy of you driver's license attached to your team manager.  Click here to download a volunteer application.

NCLL Youth Volunteer Rewards Program
Youth Umpires and Scorekeepers have an opportunity to earn volunteer credits and receive quality baseball equipment.  Any player, Major-level and above is eligible, as long as they complete the NCLL Umpire Clinic and/or NCLL Scorekeeping Clinic.

The program works like this: for each game a player works as an umpire or scorekeeper, 1 credit is earned.  When 5 credits have been earned, they can redeem the credits for a piece of new baseball equipment.  Could be batting gloves, batting helmets, fielding gloves... all donated by equipment manufacturers.  In addition, you can also earn points as a Challenger Buddy when assisting in the Challenger games.  A complete list of available equipment will be posted on Opening Day.  Of course, volunteer hours put in at NCLL also qualify for service time at the local schools.  Be sure to present your school paperwork so it can be verified by an NCLL Board member.  For more information about this program please contact Bill Brown.
