Concession: Request Time Slot

Posted by TONY YEE at Jul 27, 2011 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

 2015  CONCESSION REQUEST FORM,

One of the greatest things about our park is our concession, we strive to have it open during all park games and events giving our members its every convenience. We try to stock it with many of your favorites.

At registration time our members are all charged what we call a onetime family  $50.00 concession bond that you may earn back by doing one shift. Concession use to be strictly staffed by parent members, but as the years went on that changed. Most of our members now have chosen not to be part of running concession, mostly due to family time restraints for many different reasons.

So we at VMBA have evolved like you have evolved. We now mostly use local high school students to run our parks concession now. We still understand that there are a few members out there who wish to do shifts to earn their bond back. Those members Can earn their $50.00 back during spring weekends and tournaments. This way we can ensure there is always a student with food safe working the same time the concession is open. It use to take two shifts to get your $50.00 concession bond back, now it will take only one.

Shift time is now typically  3  to  4 hours, depending if it is a weeknight or weekend shift.

It is still up to you to get a hold of our concession scheduler if you wish to work in concession to earn your concession bond back, available shifts will be posted on the web site.

Shifts will only now be offered during weekend and tournament times

(Tournaments typically start Thursday evening until Sunday late Afternoon).

Our 2015 Concession scheduler is  Sue  you may contact her by email

Please note your shifts are only confirmed once Sue has approved the shift, if you do not have an approval you do not have a concession shift. If you need to cancel please contact Sue  24 hours prior to the shift beginning.

Training will be provided during your concession shift by a concession worker.

During you shift you could be asked to work cash/ prepare food/ grill/ do dishes/ clean/ or stock. You must be willing to do any of these items to work in our concession.

 Your VMBA Executive.

WHO IS VANCOUVER MINOR BASEBALL?

Vancouver Minor Baseball (VMB) has been affiliated with the BC Minor Baseball Association since 1999.  Prior to that, we were known as Victoria Drive Little League for 40 years.( See Handout )   Our home park is Nanaimo Park (Nanaimo St. & 46th Avenue) where we currently run programs from Blastball ( 3 - 5 years old), Rally Cap (Under 7 years old), Tadpole (7 - 8 years old),  Mosquito (9 - 10 years old), Pee Wee (11 - 12 years old), Bantam (13 - 14 years old) and Midget (15 - 17 years old). The kids all play within their age groups and cannot be moved into an older age group unless their skill level deems it appropriate.

Our emphasis is to introduce the game of baseball in a fun, learning environment while building the individual skills of the players.  All age groups up to our Mosquito division will play their games at Nanaimo Park.  The Pee Wee and Bantam divisions will play their home games at Nanaimo Park and away games at other Association parks.  The Pee Wee and Bantam divisions will be tiered in the spring season where we will play 'A' and 'AA'. We will also offer 'AAA' for Bantam only.  The Midget division will only play 'AA'.    We also offer summer and fall baseball programs for the enjoyment of the players.

We are strictly a non-profit organization consisting of volunteers who help coach, umpire, run our concession, sit on our executive, maintain our facilities and anything else that is necessary to ensure the continuity of the league.  Your registration fees usually include individual and team photos, hats and socks for the kids to keep, usage of uniforms (Blastballers receive a t-shirt to keep), and a league wind up party.  Mosquito, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget registration costs also cover fees for our umpires.  All divisions:  players must buy their own grey pants due to sizing and wear and tear.

We fundraise on an annual basis to help cover operating shortfalls, administrative costs, and to plan for future projects that will benefit the players at Vancouver Minor Baseball.
