GAME SUMMARY:

Elmwood improved its record to 7-6 behind outstanding pitching performances by Matt Boelter and Cam Moniz.  Boelter logged four complete innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits and recorded five strikeouts in a no decision effort.  Chris Lenox pitched an outstanding game for Allie’s, allowing two earned runs on four hits and recorded ten strikeouts over five complete innings and also earned no decision.  Elmwood opened the game with a single by Cam Moniz who eventually came around to score following a two base throwing error by Allie’s.  Allie’s scored one run in the bottom of the first when Matt Pazienza reached on an error and was later driven in on a single by AJ Bucci to even the score at 1-1.  Boelter and Lenox then sat the opposing lineups down in order until the top of the fourth inning when Elmwood scored twice.  A one out single by Moniz, followed by a stolen base and an RBI single by Danny Hayden put Elmwood ahead 2-1.  Matt Gauthier then reached on an error and Tyler Carter’s two out RBI single plated Hayden to bring Elmwood’s lead to 3-1.  Allie’s fought back to take the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Lenox drew a lead-off walk, followed by an error and a bases clearing double by Zack Lynch evened the score at 3-3.  Cam Moniz came on to pitch for Elmwood and struck out three consecutive batters, but not before Lynch scored on consecutive past balls giving Allie’s the 4-3 lead after five innings.  Elmwood scored nine runs in the top of the sixth inning following back to back walks to Jake Ruhling and Zack Quarella and four base hits.  Hayden singled driving in two runs, Matt Gauthier singled driving in one run, Travis Sampson doubled driving in two runs and Liam Darcy doubled plating Elmwood’s twelfth and final run of the game.  Moniz closed the game with two strikeouts in the bottom of the sixth and earned his second win of the season.
