Scoreboard Woes On Major Field

Posted by Tanya Sullivan at Mar 28, 2007 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The question of the week... well OK... the season... is WHAT'S UP WITH THE MAJOR FIELD SCOREBOARD?  That is an excellent question that we have been trying to answer for three weeks.  We have located a dad with expertise in this area and he's trying to isolate the problem which appears to be something inside the scoreboard itself.  Please hang in there as our volunteers do their best to return the aging beast to it's former greatness.  We even tested the theory that if a home run whacked it hard enough, it would spring to life.  The Yankees held up their end of that deal, but sadly, the scoreboard did not respond.

When it's fixed you will all be required to participate in "The Wave" every Saturday to appease the scoreboard Gods and prevent a recurrence of the Scoreboard Plague.  :-)
... and that's no April Fool's joke.  It's time for PTowns older players to register for another season.  Petaluma American, Petaluma Valley, and Petaluma National Little Leagues team up for Interleague Ball at this level and will conduct sign-ups for 15- and 16-year-olds Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Petaluma National Little League’s Aparicio Field located on the former Kenilworth Junior High campus off East Washington Street.

At the same time and at the same location, Petaluma American Little League will hold a last-chance sign-ups for Junior League (13-14-year-old) players living within the American League boundaries.

Petaluma Valley Little League will host the tryouts for all Senior Leaguers  (including Petaluma American Seniors) on Sunday, April 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Casa Grande High School. Every Senior Leaguer who has signed up must be at the tryouts.

If you have any questions, please contact PALL's Jr/Sr Division VP, Barry Jones (776-4917 or bjones455@yahoo.com).

Team Moms are scheduling volunteers for their snack shack shifts. If you're anxious to git 'er done, see your Team Mom and jump on the shifts that work best with your schedule.  She can also help you trade dates with another team if the block of games assigned to your team doesn't fit your schedule (though hopefully those situations will be minimal).  Each team will be assigned a block of shifts over a several day to one week period based on the number of volunteers that wish to earn their $40 snack shack refund by completing two scheduled shifts in the snack shack.  Scheduling shifts in a block makes it easier for parents to trade around if "life gets in the way" of making their date with the Snack Shack.  We need an adult in the Minor Snack Shack at all times in order for it to be open.  With your support, we will be able to have it open every time there's a game on Kenneally or Middle Fields and save you the extra steps to the Major Snack shack for non-grill goodies.

The more $ucce$$ful our $nack $hacks are, the lower we can keep fees as our costs continue to climb.  Volunteers ensure that our teen workers have the required supervision to keep the Minor Snack Shack open and generate thousands of additional dollars to our general fund each season. Without an adult at the Minor Snack Shack, the teens scheduled there can't work their shift so when you pitch in, everybody wins!

If your assigned shift is rained out, we will redeploy you to make-up week coverage. Should the new date not work, you'll be able to trade with parents from other teams using the Team Mom Network. On some days, there are games on both minor division fields, so the snack shack show will go on if only one of the two games is rescheduled.

We may also contact you for the opportunity to be a "sous chef of sorts" in the Major Snack during the busy mid-day lunch crunch Shack .  Working two of these shifts will also make you eligible for your snack shack refund.

Thanks for your support... and for your patience as we complete our "on the job" initiation into the Restaruant Business!

Hey Team Moms!  We'll see you Thursday evening above the Snack Shack  in the Board Room.  I hope the meeting will last less than an hour.  If you are unable to make it, please ask another parent from your team to attend.

Team Moms are a vital link between the Board, the Managers, the families, and the Snack Shack Crew.  With your help, we will finish scheduling the volunteer snack shack shifts for the rest of the season.  We'll get some tips from Braves Team Mom, Mary Johnson, who had the first two weeks of the season covered in no time at all.  We'll also quickly review the rest of the Team Mom role and make sure everyone has what they need for Sunday's Picture Day at PALL.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Congrats On A Great Opening Week!

Play Ball!

The PALL Board of Directors congratulates all Teams on a successful Opening Week!  Players and Fans alike are displaying great sportsmanship and the caliber of play is impressive!  Teams obviously had a great "Spring Training".

Please keep in mind that even though the posted schedules state 5:30 game times, we're actually starting at 5:00 through March 30th to help get complete games in before dark.  We're doing our best to have snack shacks open by game time... boy does that cheese take a long time to heat up!!!!

We hope you've had a chance to check out the award winning food in the snack shack.  The new equipment is making it easier to whip up tasty treats to your specifications so don't be shy... you want BBQ sauce on that cheeseburger with grilled oninons?  No problem... just ask!  We hope to christen a new coffeemaker this afternoon.  If you've been underwhelmed with our Opening Week coffee or luke warm hot chocolate, give us another chance!

HAVE A GREAT SEASON !
