Volunteers needed

Posted by Mike Wagner at Jan 24, 2014 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Grafton Little League Board Member Opportunities For our 2014 season we are still looking to fill the position of Minor League VP. It takes a group of dedicated volunteers to prepare for each season and provide a successful little league program for players and parents. Please consider serving on the Grafton Little League Board of Directors for the 2014 season

Help Needed Sat, Aug 26, 4p-6p @ New LL Fields

This Saturday, Aug 26, from 4p-6p, we need several volunteers to help with projects at the new GLL Fields Complex to get the fields ready for spring games; we have jobs for both parents and players.

Parents will be working on digging out the dugouts, digging holes for dugout bench posts and poring concrete anchors for the benches.

Players will work on clearing the fields of rocks so that we can topcoat and over-seed the fields yet this fall so they are ready for spring.  The work isn’t glamourous, but it is a great opportunity for kids to contribute to a community project that will be here for decades to come.

Please consider coming for 1-2 hours to help us out; many hands make quick work.  If able, please bring shovels, wheelbarrows and buckets.

The new GLL Little League Complex is located at the corner of River Bend and Lakefield Roads in the town of Grafton, adjacent to the Zaun Soccer Fields.  Contact Jerry Faust with any questions.

Fundraising

T-Ball:

T-Ball players are required to purchase one BaseballMania Sweepstakes game card ($20) as a fundraiser.  If the BaseballMania game card is resold the net cost for T-Ball is $40.

Baseball & Softball:

Option #1 - BaseballMania Sweepstakes Game Cards:

Purchase three BaseballMania game cards ($20 each).  You can choose whether or not to resell the BaseballMania game cards or just keep them for your own use.  The BaseballMania game cards will be distributed at the Family meeting in April.  Click HERE to see details about how the BaseballMania fundraiser works and to see our previous winners.

Option #2 - World's Finest Candy Bars:
Purchase one box of the “World's Finest Candy Bars”; the box of candy bars cost $60; there are 60 candy bars per box.

Volunteering

Grafton Little League functions almost exclusively through volunteer efforts; it takes a large and dedicated group of passionate volunteers to deliver a successful Little League program for our players and parents.  Due to significant challenges recruiting enough volunteers in previous years, GLL utilizes a Volunteer Fee & Gift Card system for players in the Baseball & Softball divisions in order to incentivize volunteerism.

Baseball and Softball players pay a $50 Volunteer Fee during registration. After a parent completes ~2-3 hours of Grafton Little League volunteer work, a $50 Volunteer Gift Card to a local business will be given out.  Grafton Little League understands some parents aren't able or willing to volunteer their time; those parents will not receive a Volunteer Gift Card and their Volunteer Fee will be treated as a Volunteer Buyout.

Volunteer opportunities are many and include Manager, Coach, Board Member, Concessions, Field Clean-Up, etc.  Complete details about volunteering for GLL can be found in the Volunteering section of the Downloads page.

Baseball & Softball players will be able to reduce their registration cost by over 50% if the fund-raising items are resold and the volunteer requirement is completed.
