(Elryria, Oh) After squandering a two goal early second period lead, the Canfield Cardinals killed off several power plays for the Midview Middies and took the game to overtime, where Joe Geiser knocked in a gloriaus goal off a Riley Emery feed to lead the Cards to a late night win, 3-2. Goalie Roger Geiser stood strong in the pipes for Canfield as he stopped 30 of 32 Midview shots. Joe Geiser scored early in the first again assisted by Emery, while Dan Johns pass attempt to Max Siegle ended up in the net for Canfield after hitting a Midview skate to post the early 2-0 lead. Ben Kline and Siegle picked up assists on the Johns goal. Canfields defensemen, Nick Carney, Mike Haurin, Tyler Buchenic, and Sean Meditz, all had strong performances in front of Roger Geiser. The Cards are off until Monday January 19th when they take on Ursuline/Mooney in the first ever Steel Valley Cup game at the Ice Zone.
