Bombers Break Out, Blast O's

The Bombers broke out of their collective slump with a vengeance on Saturday, banging out 15 hits against the Orioles while cruising to an 11-9 win.

Jack Broach, Danny DeSmit and Matthew Baswell each had three hits while Joe Morrison contributed a pair of singles.

The Yankees scored in every frame. DeSmit worked into the sixth inning, striking out nine.

Broach started the scoring for the Yankees in the first with a sling before scoring on Devon Donis's ground out. In the second inning, Matthew Baswell drilled a triple down the left field line, then scored on Morrison's grounder. After Charlie Doyle's ground ball forced Morrison at second, Dakota Combs and Antonio Howard each walked, loading the bases. Broach's double scored two and the Yanks were on their way.

In the third inning, DeSmit singled then went to third base on Baswell's single. He scored on Morrison's soft liner to center. Combs's single scored Baswell with the inning's second run.

The Bombers raced across the plate four times in the fourth inning. Broach singled before Dixon doubled deep to right center field. Donis doubled to score a second run before DeSmit and Baswell each singled in a run.

Antonio Howard's perfect bunt single ignited the final rally in the fifth inning. He raced to second and then third base on passed balls before scoring on DeSmit's single.

On the mound, DeSmit unveiled a change up and yielded just three hits.
